Wow some of you guys like to spew a lot of junior high smack whenever you talk about Iowa. They (Iowa) are going to be good, they could be very good, but going undefeated is tough. How many teams ever go undefeated? Chances are very high Iowa will loose at least one or two games. But having a team capable of running the table is something we all would like... correct?

Having a team capable of running the table is great and at the same time, the only time I wish it upon the hawks is when we beat their ***** into the ground.
It's more or less he cries about not being taken seriously every so often on this site, then says he knows up front that Iowa cannot go undefeated, and then picks them to do so. Jon can be that kind of homer - he'd just better not expect me to take him seriously.
is playing at michigan difficult? Not for the last 4 years it hasn't been... Similar to @ texas a&m
Remember how close that game was last year. They won by 2, and Michigan had the ball at the end of game, needing a filed goal to win, before they threw a pick. At Kinnick.
Iowa might have won a BCS bowl, and Michigan may have finished with a losing record, but the difference between those two squads isn't much. Michigan's offense, when ran properly is equipped to take advantage of Iowa's few defensive weaknesses. Rich Rod needs a big win. He hasn't had any. I can totally see Michigan getting Iowa at the Big House, and this becoming the win that A) saves Rodriguez's job, and B) propels Michigan back to being a good program.
Iowa has won dozens of close games in the Ferentz era. They do a great job of finding a way to win. And they almost never get blown out. USC blew them out, and so did Arizona State, and Ohio state beat them pretty good in 06 or something. Other than that they either win big, win close, or lose close.
Count on Iowa winning 3-4 really tight games again this year. But who cares? They win games. That orange bowl win proved they deserved to be in the BCS last season.

Luck balances. Sure, Iowa's won a lot of close games, but they've lost plenty of them too. The '05, '06, and '07 seasons had plenty of close losses. All of their losses in '08 were close. It cycles. I'm not saying this is the year it goes back against them, but it wouldn't stun me either. Iowa simply plays a lot of close games, which to me is a sign of great coaching applied to average talent (which is really the model we need to follow). Last year it was in their favor, but in the not so distant past they've had som ereally unlucky losses too.
Totally agree. Iowa in the Big House against a hungry, hungry, Michigan team is a recipe for disaster.
Don't forget about the last time Iowa went out to the desert too.

I think Iowa has a really good team, Brianhos' prediction of 10-2 wouldn't surprise me at all. But I don't see them running the table.

The stars would have to line up more perfect than it ever has for a NC. Let's pretend they play great every week. I think they would still slip up somewhere. They have to play wire to wire great football which is something thats never happened under Ferentz. Like Iowa fans say if Stanzi played the whole game likenhe does the 4th quarter he'd win the Heisman. Problem is, it's a 4 quarter game and he'll have to have like a 25+td 10or fewer int's compared to 17-15 last year. Replace four OL. Find some linebackers that all play all-conference football. Find a shutdown corner. And not have a single injury. Pray for multiple teams getting upset throughout the year. If they can manage all that maybe they will win it all.
I predicted 10-2 for Iowa with losses against Arizona and Ohio State. I think we are going to probably have one of the best teams in a long time. A team that probably is capable of running the table. But, I have said for a long time that I can't see Iowa playing for a National Championship unless they have a dynamite place kicker. We need our kicker to have a season like Kaeding had in '02 and '03 to contend for a title.I just don't see Murray or Mossbrucker being good enough to have a season like that.
Having said that, I'm not sure why ISU fans are so disturbed by Jon's prediction. Maybe someday you guys will win enough to understand that there is nothing wrong with expecting to win every game. Once you start winning meaningful bowl games, you start expecting to win everything. The same mentality is seen at places like Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio St., USC, and so on. I AM NOT SAYING IOWA IS IN THEIR CLASS BY ANY MEANS!! But that is still the mindset that you like want to see out of your fanbase. As long as it can be kept in perspective. And yes, there will be the occasional idiot calling for a coach's head after an 9-3 season. But no fanbase is void of these kind of fans.
Personally, I can live with 9-3 and 8-4 seasons with no problem. But I always expect more going into each season. Also, I may predict 10-2 at the beginning of the season. But I will expect to win every game once gameday arrives.
