"Mr. Pollard was at the BB game last night watching his son. He was very well behaved all night long. He did not ride the officials or make a spectacle of himself. Late in a close game there was a foul that had been called on a Gilbert player. The Gilbert fans did not agree with the call, but the situation was not out of control by any means.

During the timeout that was called during the free throws Mr. Pollard made a comment to the official who made the call. The official then came to me and asked me to have Mr. Pollard (he called him by name) leave the gym. I then asked Mr. Pollard if he would leave and he did. He apologized to me on the way out. There was no big scene and Mr. Pollard left without incident.

I was surprised when the official came to me and asked me to have him leave. I did not see anything that was overt or had been ongoing throughout the game from Mr. Pollard. This was the only comment Mr. Pollard made all night. The official said Mr. Pollard said to him, "that was a horrible call."

Jones also added that Pollard had called this morning to apologize again.

The humanity!!!

Don't you think when a ref sees JP in the crowd they get a little paranoid that whatever he says will be picked up by the rest of the crowd as being correct?
I've reffed Thomas plenty of times and never had any issues. Jamie's actually a really, really nice guy to talk to. Went out of his way to tell us last year we did a great job and the dad with him said they wished we did more of their games because freshman officials were terrible. The next week we did a game of theirs and he flipped me some crap at halftime after I called Thomas for travelling.

I was a part of a small group that got kicked out of Basketball Pep Band after the Big 12 tournament in 2002. We all bought tickets to the NIT games and sat right next to the band.

I got kicked out of FAO Schwartz in San Francisco once. I'm not proud but it was a party with free alcohol in a toy store so they are sort of lucky the building was still standing afterwards.

If saying "horrible call" gets you thrown out then I need to turn in my courtsides. I think I've said that during every Big12 game.

We should get a bunch of poster to attend this ref's next game and all chant in unison "THAT WAS A HORRIBLE CALL" every time he blows his whistle.

What do you call uncommon? 2% of games?

Actually I'd be surprised if a fan is kicked out at even 2% of high school games. I've played in/watched hundreds of high school games over the last 50 years and I've never seen a fan get kicked out. It certainly sounds like the ref was waaay too temperamental and over-reacted. And I know JP is an enthusiastic dad and fan, and we've all been there. But in his position he has to be extra careful to make sure something like this can't happen as I'm sure this will be fodder for sports talk shows and maybe even the news. JP is doing the right thing by apologizing and I'm sure he will continue to do so. This will blow over but I'm sure the hok fans and talk media will have their fun.
