I was kicked outta Sips once. Not my proudest moment.
I went into Sips once. Not my proudest moment.

I don't think referees should be the ones requesting fans be kicked out of the game. That is why administrators are there. Referees, unless fearing bodily harm, should ignore the fans comments and focus on the game. Referees who respond to fan comments are just provoking more issues.
Fire him immediately. What a black eye for the university.![]()
I've had it with this crap! I'm emailing JP.
I've been lax lately. No more.
This deserves the death penalty, and I demand it. Heads must roll.
as a high school official this sickens me! you know i am tired of people complaining about officials i have been officiating high school sports for about 5 years and ive probably thrown 2-3 people out of an event. i have probably seen it happen about 5 times total. you have to be a complete moron to get thrown out of a high school basketball game. people tend to forget how stupid they look and sound. As For Jamie Pollard if this is true shame on him a guy with his role at a top 100 research instatuiton acting like an idiot. i mean why would you want to draw that much attention to yourself JP is probably the 3rd most reconizable individual at Iowa State.
its really sad that people have to act that way, officials at the high school level are not paid thousands of dollars to go out and ref a game it is about 80-100 dollars a night. these officials are guys who do not focus all there efforts into officiating most of them if not all have other jobs and families just like you and me. and if you dont like the way the officiating is handled, go out and register yourself anyone can do it, see how it feels to step into there shoes for a night. Reguarding the level of officiating in high school, yes it can be rough but think about it if we had a skill requirement there would be not enough officials to cover the entire state. as of right now there are not enough officials, its hard to cover all three levels (freshman, Jv, Varsity) of basketball boys and girls right now.
and maybe the calls were bad ive definatly made my share of bad calls but that is not the premise, people need to understand there is a level of decorum and it is not right to boo officials no matter what the call is.
it is different to boo college or profesional officials because well that is there primary job and those guys are the best at what they do day in and day out.

Just heard a snippet on 1700 The Champ. Statement forthcoming.
Some people take high school sports waaay too seriously.
This seems like the appropriate thread to post this in:

For all you poor refs out there who are appalled: Quit chewing gum when you ref, don't wear glasses, lose some weight, no comb-overs, get in position, don't demand you're right when you know you're wrong, don't call fantom make-up calls, don't call traveling every time a guard makes a move (you're just guessing), don't call ticky tack touch fouls on the perimeter and then let them brawl inside, quit screwing up out-of-bound calls (easiest calls in the game), show some good judgment late in games (use common sense), practice throwing jump balls (it's a lost art)...I think that's all I can think of right now.
