Not to "cross thread," but those of us more connected on other boards should REALLY hit up other message boards and get the Big 12 to win Coach Hoiberg's coaches challenge in the name of supporting the American Heart Association, JP (remember, he was part of the reason the big 12 didn't implode), and show we are better than the big 10.
Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women and men. Go get checked people!

I can speak from experience, Bypasses are done on arteries that are too blocked to do angioplasty and put a stent in. I would imagine, he had a heart catherization done while in Waterloo, (Just guessing) to determine how blocked and what needed to be done, I had a triple bypass done 27 years ago at Methodist. have had absolutely no issues since. when they crack open your chest, and spread it . You will be very very sore for a couple of weeks or more. I was in the hospital for 7 days after, but I was only 31 at the time. I had a family history. You can't just say because you are in "good shape" you don't have heart disease. I wish the best for JP, unless things have changed alot in the last 20 years, don't expect to see him at the tournament, either one of them.

Athletic Department is in a good place right now, hope Jamie doesn't feel he needs to rush back. Coach Hoiberg will be there to "coach" him on not doing too much too soon after heart surgery. At least I would expect Hoiberg to preach conservative recovery after his own at home post-surgery scare.
Softball team needs to beat Iowa so they can bring Jamie a Cy-Hawk award for 2014-15. :smile:

You guys beat me to it, but you're absolutely right. Just because you "look" healthy doesn't mean you are. Go to the doctor for a yearly checkup every year! All insurance companies pay for a yearly wellness check! Even if you don't have any of the risk factors like age, family history, smoking, etc. you should be getting yourself checked out. How do you know your blood pressure or cholesterol are under control if you don't go to the doctor?
My dad was an active, healthy looking guy - a Marine in the 70s, played slow-pitch softball for years in his 30s, hunting/fishing/camping all throughout his life - and he still had a heart attack a year ago while mowing the yard. Thankfully he didn't ignore the symptoms, and he's still around to Skype with his granddaughters today.
