Not exactly sure.
Don’t think weights should be too analyzed. Not fun to hold weight all year. Another 10 pounds can be a little more happiness.

So, Shannon locked up a cradle on Carr early in the 1st. It was tight. Turned 3 times and how David avoided a pin is probably the most amazing thing. Down 6-0 barely into the match. From there on, it was all Carr. 4 straight TD's and controlled the match winning 8-6.

On the other side, Whittlake got beat by Braunagel who I guess is a RS at Illinois. Did not see that coming, but Braunagel pretty much dominated. Will be a fun final later. If David comes through after bumping up with this tough bracket, it will be a very impressive achievment.

Shapiro couldn't seem to get anything going against Woodly and gets teched 10-0, though it did go almost the whole match.

It can, but making the world team is a huge deal. It is a big goal for these guys, and I’d guess they’re going their optimal weight.

Normally, I would 100% agree with you. However, this is not just another off season tournament.

On another note, Tanner Sloan continues to tear through everyone. How did everyone miss on this guy recruiting?

I would expect Carr to be 157 next year. 163 to 157 isn’t too difficult and I think Carr probably thought he had a better chance at winning this weight than having to face Teemer or Sasso. Also expect Shapiro at 197 next year

Carr looked great, and he's filling out. I thought for sure he would be a 157lber for at least 2 years.. Now, I'm not so sure. He looks to be growing into 165 already. We will see what he ends up doing, but don't be surprised if it's 165 right away.

Shapiro also looked good and looks ready for 197 this year. He has put on some size and should fill in nicely. I would like to see Broderson down at 184 to push Colbray until he gets his chance in a couple of years. Cody Fisher could be 184 or 197 but he should also push these guys.

Carr is a stud and so good on his feet. I am curious to see how he would have done at 70 kg against Sasso or Teemer.

I was honestly surprised to see Joel up at 92 already and perform like that. Very good to see.

Also cool to see guys like Judge, Mulder, Battani, Sherry, Cabanban winning a few.

Carr lost to Sasso at the Schultz earlier this year. It was close, and Carr could definitely flip that result. Both guys are very talented. Many people (including me) think that Sasso is an immediate title threat next year.
