SEZ is the best thing our athletic department has going on right now.

Both exciting and depressing at the same time.

Here's a panorama I shot Saturday.

That shot really looks good. That is going to look awesome when it's finished.

Haha! I keep coming back to this thread because of all the comments about the crane. It's too funny to read about several posters' obsession with the crane:)

The obsession with the pump station is bigger I think. So far it looks as though they plan on building seats AROUND it, though there have been statements to the contrary. Considering there are no "gold" seats in the upper corners, I don't know what to believe anymore.

I'll dogpile on the NEZ tunnel. Why couldn't they have dug it deeper and about 50 more feet, and had it open up right behind the goalpost? Then put a storm cellar type double door over it, like from the outside of a farmhouse to the basement. Blow that siren, and bust open the door and let the players rush out.

Instead, they have to wait for the other team to move, and it's awkward as hell. Just bad traffic. It looks like something from elementary school. "Everybody hold the rope, and let the other team go first, like good boys and girls". That is embarrassing imho.

I don't mind the Jake and scoreboard. Not perfect, but not horrific.

Supposedly there were way too many utilities in the NW hillside to cut the tunnel through there.

For the umpteenth time it is not being built around. Would they sell tickets for a section that they were going to leave empty?

If they are indeed going to remove the pump/lift station, I would think it would be soon.
guys, we have gone over this many times. The station box is getting covered up with seats. It will not be visible, it will not just randomly pop up in the middle of the bleachers.

Give it a few days and we will never see it again

We have it in writing from the Athletic Department that the old pump station will be covered with seats as the finished views of the stadium show. From seeing it last Saturday, the crane will need to remove the top of the pump for that to occur.

I heard from a source that the water pump structure will be turned into a hot tub. Tickets for those seats will be in the hot tub. Boom.

Wow I was up in Ames for a lunch meeting and drove by the stadium. Pics do not do this project justice. I would venture to guess that length-wise the top takes up almost as much space as one of the sideline bleachers does. It is just massive. The view from the south has our stadium looking like we belong. Hopefully the play on the field reflects that.
