I'm not a hillside ticket holder however if I was, I think I would want to carve out my own little corner of the hillside and sit with my back against the small concrete wall that runs E/W in front of the scoreboard supports. It would almost be like sitting in the Sukup without the access to high priced booze.

So, what do you think of the new SPC from the perspective of "intentional job of matching new builds into the aesthetic of pre-existing buildings?"

For instance, it is a great building on its own, but I don't see the tie-in's to Hilton, Scheman, Stephens, Alumni, and JTS. The "overhang" does not do it for me. And the blocking of the Bergstrom Practice Facility is a great trade-off, but I miss seeing our football-shaped building, except from a few particular angles.
My opinion, for what it's worth, as an ISU Architecture Graduate in the early 80's is as follows. The tie in is awkward with the existing practice field building. The SPC roof lines create symmetry with the Jacobson building. The SPC is the first in what I hope eventually has a sister. This, combined with the proposed entertainment district will create an incredible promenade unseen almost anywhere. The balance with the existing stadium is neither conflicting nor is it complementary. It's a balance which, considering the enormous architectural disparity throughout the complex, is quite impressive. The future for this architectural plan is very promising.

That seems like a very honest and fair review. Thank you.

I think the recent south and north endzone projects, and other ancillary improvements during that time, have done an overall good job of creating a more cohesive look.

Lol, what? Are you the same person that always has trouble with the phone company, the trash collector, the tv company and now the cell phone company? How are they the worst?

Unreliable service. It has not been uncommon to have power outages where we live, and happen far more often than other power companies I have had. That does not need to be in this age. That was service I had when I was a child living at the end of an REC line 60 years ago.

Hear is an example of there customer service. My neighbors meter was installed on my property. Recently they decided to replace a transformer and some line in our cul de sac. As part of this they were switching the meters out. I asked the work crew if they had a problem when they dug up my neighbors meter and replaced the main line, to just move it 5 feet to the north so it would be properly located back on his property. (this is his meter for his home and we do not share meters.) They said it would not be a problem for them to do it but I would have to have it OKed by the MidAm foreman. He turned me down flat. Said that was something we needed to hire a contractor and do and pay for ourselves. So they dug it all up on my property and placed it back where it was.

I only get poor service from one of my utilities.

I have a feeling there will be a handful of people waiting a long time for the gates to open and it will be a mad dash to get to those very limited spots. A small scale of what the students do.

I've been saying this, especially after the south end zone was finished. If the bleacher color matched the clean cardinal of the end zone seats, it would make JTS look so much more big time. I understand you can't tell when it's full, but national broadcasts always have shots of the stadium when it's empty. Our bleachers are embarrassing.

I think those bleachers are anodized. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would guess that painting them would be a disaster. You need to replace them. And that would be an expensive project.

Since the camera panned over, here’s a look at the work on C6.

And? My hot take for them skinning off the grass at the end of the boulevard (where the tents end) is that that will be the concrete pad for the spotlights on the Trice Stripes sculpture across the street.

(Assuming I know what a “hot take” is)

I snapped these of the new video banner on the north end zone. Not the greatest quality but I was driving. They’ve been farting around the parking lots resurfacing the really bad spots lately but today it looks like they’re doing a good chunk of some. Some of the lots are bad.

I pulled up the webcam a little after 6AM, and could see the light from the video banner dancing on the concrete below. No idea if they were just testing it or what (I could see someone walking around), but that seemed a bit ambitious to me.

I think this is where a lot of construction equipment was staged - tore up what was a pretty torn up area. I imagine the plan was always to do this and to repair that section.

I also think they resurfaced the drive between Lots A-B.

I honestly can’t find a reasoning for where they are or are not resurfacing. All of the parking lots are crumbling but they seem to be doing 20ft here and 20ft there. The banner has been on nonstop since it started as far as I can tell.

Yeah- this is the case. The painting that took place this summer was in the newly repaired areas around the tunnels in the upper deck. Mostly section numbers and row numbers.

Just a guess...there's no reason to do a lot to the parking lots when they are planning to rip them all up for the P&L area in a few years anyway.
