I think I was pleasantly surprised at the time but honestly didn't think any of this was possible at Iowa State, ever.

The most I've disagreed with him may have been against Texas this season when he decided to punt in the 4th quarter. We all know how that turned out.

I was all in on Campbell way back in 2014. He was the clear obvious best get to me.

But I thought he’d be gone once he won a bowl game.

I would have never guessed he’d sign multiple extensions, get to the Big 12 CCG, and win a Fiesta Bowl

I was stunned when my good buddy from back home moved to Bloomington, IN and I learned that people out there don’t really think of Iowa as Midwest. They think the Midwest ends at the Mississippi and everything west is Great Plains or something like that.

I think if you’re on eastern time you aren’t Midwestern

ISU, Illinois State University, is in the Midwest Valley Conference, east of the Mississippi. Duh!

I remember being super pissy after the Baylor game 2 years ago and said we weren't ever getting over the hump. Like ****, even the optimistic part of me didn't expect to see the jump that fast.

I had some solid hope with CMC after the hire. Only barely knew who he was at that point in time but I remember really liking his press conference. Would never have guessed we'd get where we are so fast though

Usually every new coach at a school has a good resume that makes them look like they can succeed. I thought Campbell had a good shot but what really intrigued me was his connection and love of Mt Union and what they accomplished. Maybe he could really want to build something here??? Sure feels like it now.

After he lost his first game to purple hawks, I thought oh great. This is gonna go no where. Then there was glimmers of hope. Then Kyle Kempt happened. He’s the mf’ing man and I would gladly apologize right to his face for ever doubting him and run through any wall made of bricks as penance.

I was fine with the hire but watching that first season was probably as low as I've ever been as an ISU football fan. At least in the bad Chizik/CPR years you knew they'd be gone soon. I thought we were looking at the status quo for at least another 3-4 seasons.

I'd love to see someone find a bigger program 180 than that OU game.
