I honestly think one of the things I'd suggest (and this is hard to make "tangible") is not to play hero ball. If KU gets momentum, play smart ball and quiet the crowd, don't force a bad three or a pass to the knees trying to catch up. Some of this comes with CFH using smart time outs here and there, but other times it is about the guys making smart passes, smart shots, knowing when to push the break vs pull back and run an offense.

That.....and make our free throws....especially on 1:1s.

Was listening to Jess Settles and Jake Sullivan last night - very informative. Jake was breaking down the game and Jess said (paraphrased) "Mind if I chime in? Do they plan to continue to play a one-pass-and-then-shoot-it offense like they have the last few games? If so, they will not keep it close." I thought that was a very valid point and fits well with your hero ball comment. We need to make them work as hard on defense as we are going to have to work.

I believe they need to exploit an advantage on the break and secondary break. If there is no advantage there, then I agree, they need to work the offense for the very best possible shot and hopefully wear down, frustrate and accumulate fouls on Kansas.

Which KU player averages less than 5 points and shoots 30% on the season? Because our defense will do well against everyone else but allow that person to score 30.

Frankamp averages 1.8 ppg, shoots .321 on FGs, and .286 on 3PT, so I'll say it'll be him.

Not sure Niang will get any separation from Embiid, one of the few people who he won't be able to do it against. Last year, that was the gameplan. This year? In the first game, we let Niang try and win the game like we did last year (along with the 3's). We don't have the 3's and Embiid can stop Niang. So you really gotta change it up.

Feed Ejim. Go to Ejim. Let Ejim take perimeter shots. That's never been our game plan and we should let him do it, at least in the first half. He scores 20 scrapper points a game. What could he do if he were the true focal point of the offense? If I was coach, I'd like to find out.

I don't think the plan is to have Georges win the game for ISU. I think the plan is for him to make it hurt enough so Joel has to come out and can't camp out in the lane so others can do the damage. If he refuses to come out then let's hope Georges can continue to make them pay from 3.

This seems to be the common denominator all season whenever the offense has struggled (including bad stretches in games that have been won).

I think it's pretty clear Georges needs to knock down some 3's. If he hits the 3 or 4 he did against Kansas St. last game we will be fine and it will bring Embid out and open up the lane. He goes 0-7 and yes we will be in trouble. To me he is the key...not just against KU but most teams.

Just thinking about what we could do to stop Embiid. Why not play Gibson and Edoise a bunch in the first half and just foul the crap out of him? Who cares if they foul out, and Embiid gets a bit upset at times. Maybe get him frustrated and in foul trouble. Gladly foul out gibson and edoise in first half to get 3 on Embiid early. Thoughts?

Thank God you aren't making the game plan. Yeah, let's put KU in the bonus even FASTER, makes sense.

Their guards suck, need to find a way to exploit that.

The game plan last time worked pretty well. Forced Embiid into 7 TO's and KU ~24 TO's. We just couldn't execute on offense.

Play smart and aggressive and get a good early lead. The options will present themselves. We don't need any goon tactics. If were a top 10 team then we need to start playing with some balls and integrity and take these young boys out.

Fred should walk in and fist pump like Johnny Orr and then walk up to the first referee and just ***** slap him. He should then take out his I-phone and tell the referees he is going to video them the whole game and put them on facebook.
In the end, Wiggins will drive on Hogue and Niang who both have 4 fouls and then kick it out to the referee who does that fat guy windmill like the KobeBryant hug guy and sinks a 3 pointer for KU. He then whistles Niang for his fifth foul on himself and shoots a bucket granny style for a four point play.

The key this game is how many guys the Clones will send to the offensive boards. We're a weaker team than Kansas. We have to be willing to take risks that we didn't have to against the UMKCs of the world, and that means going for broke on offensive rebounds. I'd like to see three guys in the paint when a shot goes up instead of the one that we've seen in recent games. So what if you give up more transition buckets. We're going to have trouble stopping Kansas in its half court offense anyway.

I agree with this. Gameplan in Hilton was fine. Poor shooting. Can't just do everything the same for gameplan this time but I assume it will look similar. Really need to get shots to fall - notably from the outside. I fully expect to lose the paint battle and rebounding. Need to make up for it with turnovers, good shooting and fast break points.
