He's better than the guys who called the Baylor game - good lord they were bad
I've never heard RGIII do a game, but I would assume this has to be true.

I'm better than the guys that called the Baylor game.
Dolph is better - well not push it....
Yeah ... as much as I'd hate to admit it ... I'd rather have Dolphin than that Baylor game guy.
Shoot, I'd rather have Chris Hassle pretending to be Dolph rather than that guy!

hey all, first time poster..

I am an alum of a generally non-competing Land Grant institution and going to my first game in Ames on Saturday... any tailgating or general game day pointers? Pregame concerts, team arrival, that jazz?

We're going to park in the lots southeast of campus (how quickly do those fill up?) and hang out there before the game.

Will be cheering for ISU, I don't need to watch KU win twice in person in one year and have always had a soft spot for ISU fans since moving to Iowa several years ago.
Just here to say you picked a killer username!

Being a longtime fan, I would be shocked if that happened. We normally tend to under perform in huge games like this. But who knows. Campbell has done a lot of things that nobody else has ever been able to do at ISU, maybe he can pull this off.
The only comparable game I can think of is bugle

NWS forecast...

10am (donor lots) - 40 F, NE 3
12pm (public lots) - 46 F, W 5
3pm - 53 F, SSW 7
6pm (kickoff) - 49 F, S 5
9pm - 42 F, S 2

10% chance of precip from 1pm to 6pm

This forecast is definitely in our favor. If the weather were sloppy/windy it would have gave KU an advantage as they definitely have the stronger run game.

Hopefully Rocco hits on 1-2 of the big play opps he (routinely) has missed on and abstains from TOs. If he does I think we will come out on top.

Are you a KSTATE coach trying to pull off a Michigan spy thing?
No, just some guy who started seeing someone who has their own interests and she wants to bring me along to watch, and it turns out I'm open to that.

..and don't get me started on Michigan, between that fiasco and strategically keeping myself away from the Minnesota game, tomorrow is also an attempt to keep my own Dark Passenger quiet for a week

Just let me know if it's too weird for you and you can leave until we're finished.

TOs will be huge. Whoever wins that battle will win. We cant afford any TOs

This doesn't seem right.

We had 0 big games like this last year.

In 2021 we crushed Kansas, Texas and TCU and beat #7 Oklahoma State.

In 2019 we lost to OSU on homecoming, so there might be one. Later beat Texas though.

In 2018, we lost to #5 Oklahoma after having no offense against Iowa, so I don't think that game qualifies. We crushed #6 West Virginia in a huge game. We beat a 5-2 tech team on homecoming. We crushed Baylor to get bowl eligible and then had an amazing rally to beat KSU in a night game.

In 2017, after stunning Oklahoma on the road, we curb stomp Kansas and beat #4 TCU. We did then lose to #12 Okie State.

So in the Matt Campbell era, there are really only 3 huge home games games where you can say Iowa State underperformed and only 2 were losses. 2019 against Okie State a late pick by Purdy did us in, but it wasn't like we laid an egg. OSU finished 8-4. 2018 against KSU was a win. KSU was an average team and so was Iowa State, so that's not really laying an egg. 2017 against OSU was against a ranked team who finished in the top 20.

In the Matt Campbell era, when looking at 'huge' home games, Iowa State has over performed far more than underperformed.
I didn't necessarily mean in the Campbell era, just ISU football in general. Like the year we just had to beat KU at the end of the season, and lost. What was that, 2005 maybe?

I'm just looking forward to something different than mediocrity, non-stop anxiety about just making a damn bowl game, constant bumbling and incompetence from officials and the league, and shooting ones self in the foot

First place in the conference, and an early November sold out homecoming night game at Jack Trice with THAT tailgating forecast..........it doesn't get more eggplant emoji than that.
Plus, after those first 3 games or so who would have ever thought this.....That with just a handful of games left Iowa State would be in control of their own destiny? Meaning if we win out we're in the Conference championship game....we don't have to depend on someone else getting beat. Who'da thunk that was a possbility after the Ohio game?

And on that note if Oklahoma State wins out and we win out then it's Oklahoma State and Iowa State in the championship game. The funny thing about that is that after the first 3-4 weeks of the season we were both probably thought to a couple of the worst teams in the conference. But just to be in a position to say all that is a credit to the kids and coaches.
