This should be a testament to the Iowa State fans. We have been going blow for blow for the bottom of the Big 12 for years, and look at our seats and game atmosphere. Honestly, this is what ISU COULD look like. This is why when people hear ISU has the best fans, they roll their eyes, but we really truly are. Looks like KU fans have given up, which is sad. On the flip side, any time we can beat KU in anything, I'll take it. So, our fans are better than theirs, this is proof.

You know, it takes a lot of courage to get up here and do something you know everyone makes fun of!

The one with brown hair is Bruce Springsteen's sister!

Who was Sean Penn's GF at that time.

on the OP link it shows some schools having 125% of capacity. Wouldn't that higher number be "the capacity" the entire time?

It's like Hobby Lobby selling frames "Always 30% off". No, that's just the price.

Football moves the conference realignment needle.

They were almost in a bad spot last time. The GOR is ending fairly soon. They need to make themselves as attractive as possible

I agree, but if you can't come close to filling it after a 300 mil upgrade then you're still in the same place as without the upgrade.

Sad state of affairs at ku

Pretty sure KU makes their fans buy football tickets if they want Basketball season tickets. That probably accounts for 95% of those ~20,000 tickets sold.

On the flip-side, imagine what JTS would look like after a decade of success. Honestly, that more aptly is what ISU COULD look like.

That's why too many are too bearish on what ISU could and should be, including many ISU fans.

Wonder if there is a way KU could say if you buy a fball season ticket or show up to a game, there is a drawing to get hoops season tix.

And also, looking at the attendance stats, how do schools justify their capacity as over 100%?
Everyone is counted from the media, to the players and ushers. Plus, there's standing room numbers that come into play at some games. And stadium 'capacity' is at times understated.

That's what I'm saying. ISU's fan base shows up like we've won multiple conference champion ships in the last 10 years, and we havent. We've had a similar record to KU in the past few years. We could have a game atmosphere like KU has, and we dont...because we have a better fan base.ISU has consecutively sold out, and we have had a loosing record, Vs KU having a loosing record, and it looks like a Central College game.

Simply breathtaking. This is homecoming folks. Man I hope we don't lose this game to that depressing program.

I absolutely love driving down to Lawrence every other year to watch the Clones play. I can either get free tickets from a buddy who runs a Hy-Vee in Kansas or I can get tickets for $5. Either way I always sit right around the 50 yard line because of the lack of attendence by Jayhawk fans.
In 2012 I think there were more Cyclone fans than KU fans after halftime.

Interesting note in the comment's section of the article...

"It's amazing how much having a respectable team can do to your attendance numbers. They have 37 wins during that time period, compared to our 11. Sure, they may not be a bowl team most years but at least they look like they belong in the Big 12 in most games."

Well stated...
