Yes. And IMO Waters success has more to do with Snyder, his system, and talent around him, than Waters pure talent.

Waters is good, don't get me wrong, but where would Kst be with Sam as their QB? Same? One game worse? 2-10?

Yep, QB play has nothing to do with OL play in front of you ( K State always has excellent OL play) or the quality of Defense your team has.

K State wouldn't be any worse with Sam as their QB running that simple system, and he can run when needed, which for most K State teams, is a prerequisite.

Tyler Lockett is going to be missed by K-State a whole lot. Helped Waters a bunch.

At the time of Waters' recruitment, Sam Richardson had a really good breakout game against Kansas and we had a sophomore backup named Jared Barnett. And you say we should have recruited Juco QB Waters as well?

Yes. Yes he did.

Not sure how much interest Waters really had in ISU and vice versa considering the fact we had a RS Frosh starting and a RS Soph backing him up along with Steele Jantz. Not a very wise use of scholarships IMO if you take a Juco QB under those circumstances. Jared Barnett transferred out so he more or less figured that Sam R was the QB of the future. Quite likely that Waters saw the same thing.

I think they could take a step back next year. Losing Lockett will hurt a bunch. Also lose waters and their two stud defensive guys right? I can't remember their names but one was a walk on D lineman and the other was #21. They won't be bad, but hopefully 6-6

I think it just as likely that Snyder will forget how to coach in the off-season the way CPR will turn into a HOF coach.

Snyder has lost key players each and every year. But he keeps winning. That's why he's one of the best. Just comparing recruiting classes should tell you his losses of talent is the easiest hurdle he has each and every year. His biggest concern at his age should be a nearby p station...

Great coach. Great coaching. Great system. Great program. Great kids each and every year. Perhaps we should get a sperm donation and start cloning...

Do you ever tire of constantly being negative towards CPR?

A thread about K-State and once again, you post negative about ISU. Go to the Hawkeye boards and rail about Ferentz and how he should be fired.

Two things:

1. Bill Snyder is an incredible coach and has a ridiculous ability to develop talent.
2. Jake Waters wouldn't have looked all that good behind our offensive line. I'm not sure we can say he's indisputably better than Sam.

In hindsight of course we should have. :jimlad:

No wonder our team speed is lacking.

It's a good comparison to look at. I always wonder how Boise State does it. Their class is currently ranked 80th and it seems like they are always in that ballpark. Yet when they get their chance, they can usually compete with the big boys (e.g. OU and AZ in Fiesta Bowl).

Two things need to happen IMO. 1. Don't try and grow kids into OL or DL positions. they will have ligament problems from gaining weight too fast. 2. Must recruit big fast kids for RB's and LB's. 5'9 175 lb. RB's and 5'11-6'0 210 lb. LB's are not going to make it in this league.

This thread was more fun for me than you, I'm sure. Just a couple add-on's:

Snyder likes to play his men against your boys. The best back on this squad was a red-shirted freshman named Dalvin Warmack, not the guys who played this fall. He has a way with roster management that's lost on most fans, and that's key to his developmental expertise.

Second, K-State rules Kansas. Thus, he gets the best kids, generally, both from high schools and JUCO's. That's also the reason Fry told him not to take the Ames job.

And finally, Snyder, in the end, always has high quality athletes with great values. Tyler Lockett is a prime example of what we all would want in our student-athletes, All-American both in academics and athletics.

Had Snyder taken the ISU job back in the 80's, K-State would probably be in the Mountain West Conference today. And you likely don't know that he was like the third or fourth choice back then behind - amongst others - BC's Jack Bicknell, Doug Flutie's coach.

Finally, Jake Waters chose K-State over Penn State but has often alluded to his affection for ISU. It's never been clear to me if your staff offered or simply backed-off at the end. CPR has also spoken to the matter but not directly.
