I would rather have a coach that went to Iowa and actually knows about the state, than some washed up defensive coordinator big shot from Florida who doesn't know where Iowa is on the map.

I think my biggest concern with Stoops is that he is like McCarney. He wins the game he should and loses the games he should. He has yet to make a splash.

Look at this years wins
Idaho
Toledo
@UCLA (who stunk this year)
Washington (worst team in FBS football)
California (his one good win this season)
@ Washington St. (2nd worst team in FBS football)
Arizona St. (none bowl team and in state rival)

Remind you of something ISU would do to get 7 wins.

Aren't we the worst FBS team?

"Stoops has led the Wildcats to their first bowl game in 10 years. His overall record at Arizona is 24-34 in five seasons. This seasons 7-5 record is his first winning season in Tucson."

Yawn.

I don't know why anyone would not want him because he went to Iowa. Seriously, I highly doubt that he would hold himself back for his alma mater sake, and let's be honest, Iowa has had more success over the past 20 year then ISU- maybe we should figure out what they are doing and learn from it.

Could have gone 9-3 if not for last second losses to Stanford and Oregon State. The difference between winning and losing those two games is the difference between a Las Vegas Bowl and a Rose Bowl. He was only a combined 3 points shy in those losses. He took USC to the wire but came up short, heck he didn't lose a game by more than 10 points all season. He's proven that he can coach up a competitive team and I'll take that in a heartbeat over the crap I've seen the last 3 years. That's the small difference between your "yawn" and a "WOW".

Here nor there
" I heard Fulmer would bring Peyton Manning as OC and Tee Martin as RB coach."

Why Tee Martin as RB coach? I bet he brings a former running back as RB. Maybe Jamal Lewis.

He's went 3-8, 3-8, 6-6, 5-7, and 7-5...it's improvement at a school that isn't a football school...very rarely are there quick fixes in college football, so I don't know why some of you are bagging on this guy's record so hard...would you rather have a coach that took over at a prominent school and went 11-2 in his first year, and slowly worked his way down to 6-6??? He would have an overall winning record.

We haven't even hired the guy and we're already starting D-Mac type spin to make him look better?

Oh boy, that's not a good sign...

Their source for this is KXNO. Can we all point in their direction and laugh and move on?

Until I hear something from JP, I'm just going to keep blabbering about the pros and cons of each candidate because we've got nothing better to do. Stoops has more pros than cons IMO. Wouldn't be a bad hire.

Maybe Stoops can get us into the Big Ten so we could have success like the Hawks. A bad Big 12 team could be mid level bowl team in thge Big 10:chatterbox:

The PAC10 is usually a bit easier than the Big 12 and he's struggling out there. Many, many sources believe him to be smug. Reports are his assistants do not like him.

None of it makes sense. If this is the route we're going - to me it screams "settle"...as I think we can do better. We're the only open job right now.

I'll support whomever, but I just don't see Pollard settling this early in the search.
