Again, what does any of that have to do with Kansas? Nothing. Whether this company is good at what they do or not is for another conversation. Based purely off of the generally poor quality of their website I would assume this isn't a top quality firm. Any company that loans money has to live with the consequences of their decisions. If they are OK with the risk associated with loaning this money to Cliff's mom, that's their problem. It sounds like several of us are or have been in the financial and banking industry and have worked for reputable banks that would have never even considered such a high risk loan. It certainly would not have been approved where I work. I have never dealt with any type of Capital group that does risky loans like this so I have no concept of what their Risk Mitigation policies are.

It has a lot to do with Kansas if Cliff signed or verbalized a contract with an agent back in August. If he was involved, then it wouldn't take much of a leap to think that Kansas would have to vacate wins that he participated in. The question at hand is what collateral or assurances were placed on that loan? I can't imagine that gets approved without third party (agent) involvement.

I cannot imagine how millions of knuckleheads that can't pay their bills from month to month get mortgages or car loans but shady lenders always seem to find a way to approve them if they are willing to agree to a high enough interest rate. And entering into an agreement with an agent isn't anything that would be useful as collateral on a loan. Sorry, but I just haven't seem anything that makes me think this is more than the parents being too eager to cash in on their son and a company more than eager to get in on taking a chunk of his future income.

Well I'll derail this thread, Welcome back Tuco. Did you enjoy the B12 tourney? Did you get to go down and bask in the glow of thousands of cheering Cyclone fans? Hopefully that melted your cold Kansas heart and you are realizing the awesomeness that Cyclone Basketball is becoming.

TwoCoach will disappear with about :50 to go in their game against WSU.
Meh, if KU loses to Wichita State I'll be bummed but not crushed. Only 2011 and 1997 were crushing exits in my book. There is always next year and KU will always have a shot if things pan out well. They played well enough to beat a ton of good teams but poor enough to look totally unreliable. Young teams are inconsistent and KU is no exception. I hope they make it out of Omaha and gain some valuable experience for next season. Should be fun however and whenever it ends.

I doubt the Shox hang with Ku, even without the mighty Cliff. In fact, I doubt WSU gets by Indiana.

Really? Indiana has no business being in this tournament. WSU has an offensive efficiency ranking of 21st against a lighter schedule, but Indiana is 219th in defensive efficiency, and the B1G wasn't exactly an offensive juggernaut this year. Dey bad!

Maybe Indiana's offensive efficiency of 9th in the nation will help them overcome their comparably poor defense. Who knows? For comparison, the only single digit seeds with a worse defensive efficiency than Iowa State are #3 seed Notre Dame, #8 seed NC State and #8 seed Oregon yet you still think ISU is going to have tourney success due to their rankings of 7th nationally in offensive efficiency, don't you?

Unfortunately we should hope KU goes far in tourney, more $ for conference = more $ for ISU.

What recruiting violations do you think Kansas was guilty of that they need to be punished for? Frankly I think this whole thing is absurd that the ncaa regulates that the parents of a recruit cannot take out a loan from an established finance company based on future earnings until after the kid declares for the draft. How is this different from a student loan where the student takes out a loan for school and is not expected to begin paying it back until after they graduate and begin earning their future earnings? If these people want to take out a bad loan with a legit company that's on them. Like the majority of dumb people that take out loans they may not be capable of repaying, they should simply have to deal with the legal impacts of their stupidity and impatience. It's too bad for Cliff and for Kansas that he is the child of stupid parents that couldn't wait to cash in on their child. This could have all been avoided by one simple phone call to either the KU or ncaa compliance department to determine if this was an option and if so, when. They cannot have thought they were going to do this and not have it discovered when it requires you to fill out documentation that is publicly filed. This wasn't cash in a brown bag behind the gas station. Can't fix stupid, I suppose. Oh, well. Chalk one up in the "live and learn" department and move on. Cliff will get replaced in recruiting with a player that won't have a tough time providing more than what Cliff gave us and Kansas will be better off next year for it. Glad KU has an answer so that they don't have to play holding out hope that they might have him back. Now they can move forward and Lucas and Mickelson know for certain they will be counted on to produce.
The way things are going, hope the parents can pay back the loan.

Big 10 hoops were somewhat undervalued this year, based on my eye test. And Indiana has a great point guard, Yogi.

WSU will be wetting themselves in anticipation of playing the mighty squawk. Plus, I believe the Shox are probably placed about right at 7, in spite of all the Ku hang-wringing fans who want this WSU picture framed differently than it actually is this year; the Wheat Shockers not what they were at the last dance, folks.

I just see a somewhat obvious potential upset here in the first round. That said, the Shockers will have a huge fan base in Omaha helping their cause.

Pulling for you guys against the Shockers if you win the first one. More money for the B12.

WSU will not have a huge fan base here in Omaha. All of the tickets were sold out long before WSU ever thought they'd be playing here. All the tickets were purchased by Kansas, Wisconsin and Iowa State fans. Unless WSU fans are going to grab severely overpriced tickets off the secondary market (cheapest Session 3 tickets on Stubhub running $200+) or buying tickets from scalpers on the corner they will not have much in the stands at all.
