Love how his dad is big timing it the whole time.

Yeah, I think that says a lot. It was his kid's moment and Dad makes sure that he steals some of the attention away from his kid with the big gestures. That whole family looks like a real piece of work. If I knew my kid was planning to punk the home school like that I would have a real heart to heart with him/her not chuckle about him being an asshat. Mom obviously thinks it is funny. I don't care; even if local fans have been rough on the kid, show a little class.

My dad would have been FURIOUS if I did something like that.

That's pretty much what I said at the time, and I got crucified for it. "Let the kid have his fun" was all I heard, and when I pointed out that his parents weren't doing him any favors by allowing him to be a jerk on national tv at the age of 17 or 18, "Mom & Dad are just proud of him" was the response.

How is that talking out of both sides of his mouth? he was probably told in general terms it wasn't something with KU but rather with Cliff or his family but not any specifics
During games he talks out of the side of his mouth. He can yell two directions at one time - the players and the refs.

Well, KC, I have to agree with that comment: obviously proud of his asshat behavior.

That's Cyclone Fanatic for you. I've noticed, the tone and direction of the thread is dictated by the first comment. If the first comment is positive everything else is near positive as well. If it's negative, look out. But I'm with you man. That's one thing I dislike about this site.

If the family's lawyer is indeed interfering in the investigation, I don't see cliff back this year. The NCAA has always been slow with their responses. To have a lawyer purposely stonewall them is only going to make this last longer.

Wow, lawyering up is not a great idea, the Yahoo article reads that they took benefits, it's now a matter of if Cliff received anything from it or not. I have a feeling the lawyer wants to be the interviewee by the NCAA and not the family. Smartest thing might be for them to just say yep they took it, let Cliff sign with the agent, and head on to his NBA D-League dreams.

Breaking: NCAA approves waiver for KU and Cliff Alexander on grounds of KU and Bill Self.

Look, my conspiracy theory guess is that KU knew about this and released the info so that they can get rid of him, since he turned out to be a bust. This way they can clear the way to go after Diallo. Never underestimate the power of cheating.

Re: Alexander being investigated at KU

For future reference, you should've taken the "NCAA probing Cliff Alexander..." and ran with it.

So is this a Cam Newton type NCAA reaction where as long as the team (insert untouchable program here) and player "didn't know", nothing really happens?

I don't know if the Cam situation is the same. The funds were funneled through his dad's church so it is possible that Cam was indeed more shielded. But if Cliff's parents took money directly he might have been more aware of it. It's a matter of semantics I know, but it could be an important point.

And while we're on the subject of impermissible benefits, why isn't the IRS heading this up to hunt down these funds? If the NCAA does not have the ability to investigate, wouldn't it be real easy for them to turn their evidence over to the IRS to run the investigation for them? If someone is hiding money from the NCAA I can't imagine they're filing that income properly.

Re: Alexander being investigated at KU

He Gone. No motor and Mom meddling.

Ya, he's not good enough to go to the ends of the earth to protect. I see Self sending this guy packing. Neither Bill nor KU needs him.

I just hope this isn't the domino that falls to cause Diallo to go to KU. If he leaves, they will have Ellis, Traylor and Bragg as major contributors in the front court.

That's no less wide open than Niang, McKay and Nader which is who he would be competing against for PT here.
