How did a thread titled Kyle Washington end up being about Okoro?

There really isn't much to say about Washington right now. He is down to 6 schools and he visits in a month. I guess the only related information that i have is that PF Jordan Mickey is down to 4 schools. Ohio State is 1 of those 4. So if he picks Ohio State I'm guessing they will pass on Washington.

On to what this thread was created to talk about...Okoro. baha. I think most people's definition of good is scoring a lot of points, getting a lot of rebounds, and getting a lot of assists. People see a player averaging high offensive statistics as being good. Okoro will be good in his own way i think. I don't think he will be a big scorer or passer for us. I think he will rebound well, play defense well, and hustle all the time. He will be a mix of Babb and Tyrus but won't shoot the 3 as often or as well as McGee and Babb.

I think Okoro will be a nice player. The downers on Okoro are probably the same ones saying we were out of the running with him once Pitt offered.

Hey, now. I immediately said that we were out of the running once Pitt offered, since there was something out there about that being his dream school.

I'm still excited to see Okoro play here. Unless he proves otherwise, I believe he'll do nice things here.

I don't think people are saying that he will never play. I just think people are saying he won't play much this year. I mean really there aren't many minutes out there for him.

Lucious will play 30 minutes at PG. If Bubu is eligible he will play 10 minutes at PG.
Babb will play 20 minutes at SG. Tyrus will play 20 minutes at SG.
Clyburn will play 30 minutes at SF. Babb will play 10 minutes at SF.
Ejim will play 25 minutes at PF. Niang will play 15 minutes at PF.
Booker will play 20 minutes at C. Gibson will play 20 minutes at C.

I just don't see where the minutes will come into play for Okoro, Naz, or Dorsey-Walker unless Bubu is done. Or i guess unless Booker and Gibson don't play 20 minutes a piece. Then Clyburn can shift to the 4 sometimes which would open up minutes for Okoro and Dorsey-Walker at the 2/3. Then obviously if Bubu is out Naz will play some minutes at the PG. But at most Naz/Okoro/Dorsey-Walker will play 5 minutes max a piece unless one of them are just amazing which I doubt will happen this year.

We are looking for Okoro, Naz, and Dorsey-Walker to start producing more their sophomore years after we lose 5 seniors and when there is more opportunity for them to play.

On the road...
This is what some people do. They have sort of crystal ball that tells them how good players are before they even hit the court for us. It also apparently tells them how much a kid will improve over his time here.

So what you are saying is the op knows how he is going to be used or how much he is going to play this year? He doesn't know **** either. And yes, my crystal ball did tell me that one.

It's been said that there is a good chance Clyburn will play some 4 in a guard oriented offensive set as well.

Yes i agree. When that happens though the lineup will be Lucious/Bubu, McGee, Babb, Clyburn, Booker/Gibson. It won't happen very often either I don't think because very rarely are you gonna have Ejim, Niang, and Gibson/Booker all on the bench at the same time. You gotta look at is this way; very rarely do teams play more than 9 or 10 guys. This shows our players in order from best/most experienced to worst/least experienced as of now at least:

1. Clyburn
2. Lucious
3. Babb
4. Ejim
5. Tyrus
6.Booker
7. Gibson
8. Bubu
9. Niang
10/11/12. Okoro/Dorsey-Walker/Naz

If Bubu isn't on the team replace him with Naz. Okoro and Dorsey-Walker are still the 10th and 11th guys in the rotation.

Also here is a Roster/Depth Chart i made for the 2012-2013 season.

Here are the 2013-2014 and 2011-2012 Rosters and Depth Charts as well if anyone is interested.

But you have to consider matchups. If Okoro & Babb are our suspected power defenders, you might see Okoro on the court for the mere purpose of locking down a player. If he is as good on defense as rumored, you might be surprised in crunch time how much we actually do use him.

I can't imagine if Babb or Tyrus can't lock down someone that Okoro is going to be able to. If anything he will come in for 5 minutes per game to give Babb a break from guarding the teams best player.

Could be. Just pointing out how Fred switches the lineups on the regular. Percy plays 20 minutes 1 game, and doesn't play more then 1 minute the next. Same for Booker, etc. You never know. Saying source to my comment is rediculous. I was stating if his defensive skills are as good as advertised. I am not the fool saying he wont play before practices have even started.

I see Naz getting 5-8 min as we'll need someone to be able to run the point in 2013.

We played 9 guys every game last year, 8 when Bubu got hurt. I don't see us playing 10-12 guys each game. Hoiberg definitely doesn't sub enough to play 11 guys. But I do agree it all depends on matchups.

Oh, so that is the preferred way to do it....

Well then, according to as advertised, Okoro likely will not get more than Sledge type PT this year.

It all depends on if Bubu is on the team or not. If Bubu is on the team Naz will play very few minutes. If Bubu isn't on the team he will play around 10 minutes a game. Bubu would then be able to run the point for the 2013-2014 season with Naz and Monte both getting minutes at the point too.

But who is to say one of these guys doesn't emerge as a better player or role player than the player in front of them? For instance, if I had to choose between a player with excellent defense and average offense vs poor defense and above average offense. I will will choose the excellent defense everytime.
