Let's get some video before drawing conclusions. We all know what Big 12 players look like.

That's fine with me, but I will need to see more than just dunks. Dunking doesn't impress me a whole lot... nearly every college basketball player can dunk.

Deandre was also always old for his class, and I think went to prep school before going D1. So he was physically probably more like a Sophomore or Junior as a freshman, playing in a weak bball league. No disrespect at all intended to him as a player, because I loved him here.

This thread couldn't have got off to a worse start. We actually had posters giving serious thought to a comparison with Kane. The only thing similar about the two is that they are transfers.

If you think Prohm is planning on filling the roster with primarily low 3-stars, you're either delusional or you just enjoy stirring the CF pot. We will be offering plenty of Top 100 guys.

It's not that the comparison itself isn't accurate.

It's that it is being discussed with a degree of seriousness. You might as well be comparing him to Lee Love. It's that random.

15+ pts, 4+ rebs, and 7 assists per game is quite a bit better than 6 pts, 2 rebs, and less than 1 assist per game.

Granted, this kid is was a freshman and only played 15 mins per game while Kane was older and played 37 mins a game, so who knows?

You apparently...

Point well taken. I won't worry about this at this point. I just hope we're smart enough to save some spots for after we kick total butt this year and everyone wants to come and play here. That's all.
.

I agree. Ideally if they want this guy, they take him and then pray to get 4 guys this summer and hold two spots.

Feel like this would be less for 16-17 and more so for later on than that. He'll only be a redshirt sophomore in 16-17.

I'm all for it, you can never have too many big, athletic guards.

He only has one month to fill up 2016-17's roster? I wasn't aware of that? Signing day for the 2016-17 class is coming up soon? I didn't know that?

most guys in the 50-75 range will be off the board this summer.

Stapleton is by far the most B12 ready of the group. He at least showed some production when playing a small role. Plus he will get a year to sit and learn and develop, and we have seen how useful that can be.

Personally I wish we'd have gone for another transfer but it doesn't seem like we've sniffed some of the bigger name ones since Prohm got here.

(Or Fred for that matter. I thought we'd go harder after transfers to give the 16/17 roster a jolt, like a mini version of when Fred first got here and with better players, but he didn't do it for some reason.)

i love Fred and i would take him and his lack of interest in recruiting back tomorrow. But he screwed over prohm and tj by not quitting in March. It would have been so easy with the surgery. The new coach whoever it was was never going to have a chance.

Babb is a Fred guy though...

babb is a Fred guy in name only. He's tj's guy. I actually like what I've seen from him, so I'm glad here's here. But Fred had already quit when we were looking at him.

Nothing wrong with bringing in athletic guys with size. They must be a little worried and butthurt about losing him to restrict him from so many schools. Plus we want as many people on the team next year returning as possible. You want guys apart of winning teams to stay and help continue the winning way...

Possibly... I can't really remember what I thought about Kane at the time of his recruitment. Although, didn't he put up some gaudy numbers at Marshall?

As I stated, I don't know much about this kid, other than his offers and stats, etc.... so I hope he is some kind of diamond in the rough rising star that I don't know about.

I'm in no way saying he won't be a good get.... he could very well be. I'm just saying that on paper this isn't the level of player we should be recruiting IMO.

Not agreeing with you or disagreeing. But something tells me that this won't be the last time this type of comment about a player's level 'on paper' will be made before 16-17 roster is filled. Going to have to remember that most of the 2016 'connections' were lost due to Hoiberg/Matt departures. TJ and Prohm getting a late start doesn't help them. Feel for them.

Kane was only brought up because he too came from a mid major level school in Marshall, similar to La Tech. Not because anyone thought their games were similar.

Oh really? Is that why we had posters projecting stats per 40/min? As I said and you confirmed, they're transfers. That's it. No need for the research or argument.

This name sounded familiar. Now I remember why. I saw he was transferring and La Tech restricted where he could go:

"According to the Clarion-Ledger, the school is restricting Stapleton from transferring to more than 50 Division I schools. On that list are other Conference USA schools, schools that are on future non-conference schedules and schools located in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas. Also on the list is Florida, where former Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White is now in charge."
