To be fair, Rivals is the only recruiting site really worth anything right now. Although 247sports I think will eventually challenge them. 247 has his 40 at 4.5 and has all his relevant offers, unlike ESPN. If that is all the better ESPN can do with its practically infinite bankroll, that is all you need to know.

It looks like Lazard is also the #103 player in the nation and is listed as an ATH by them. He is the #9 ATH.

103 is there composite ranking. That's all of the sites combined. ESPN historically differs from Scout and Rivals. They also pick out more busts and guys other sites miss. So, while they aren't very good on the average they see things others don't at times. Someone needs to get and ISUZU site going on 247 but they have never returned my emails. They typically do a better job in the Midwest as they were basically started by Rivals old Midwest staff. They have by far the best usability and by far the most free info. Rivals is the ticket but 247 is coming.

I think they just haven't gotten around to rating him yet. Chill out. It's almost impossible that there would be such a big disconnect between Rivals and ESPN. Especially when Lazard has those offers, so it's not as if one Rivals scout has fallen in love with him. Sometimes recruiting services are strange. I remember Rivals didn't have Nerlens Noel on their 150 until extremely late and wondering where he was.

Thanks for clarifying that composite thing.

I think he was re classifying between classes.

ESPN isn't the end all be all of recruiting or anything else. Every other site has him listed as a four-star type talent, so unless something drastic changes in the next 12 months he's still going to be a four-start caliber talent.

Rivals still has him as the top WR. You don't go from being a guy in the running for the top spot to overnight being 33rd, which is what ESPN has him at now. I'm sure they'll update it soon. There are not 32 better high school WR than Lazard.

I want the guy to be ranked low. I'm happy. He's gonna show up on campus and be a BOSS no matter what they rank him at.
I'm not disputing that he won't tear it up. It's kind of a publicity thing, I guess. Landing big recruits excites other big recruits. Puts ISU on the map. All that stuff.

Not saying there are 32 better WRs in this class, but these comments always crack me up.

That's a good point. I agree it does matter. I don't really expect a boon because Lazard committed here, but I won't disagree that it makes a difference.

Let him get through the national camps this summer. Minds will change following those.
