CPR is 95% of the reason he wants to be at ISU per Allen Lazard. Just thought that might need to be posted in case some calling for his firing missed the interview.

If ISU could fire Rhoads and get a coach with more substance than bluster(like Jerry Kill at UM) they should, and wish Lazard well at ND. One recruit can make or break a basketball team, but in football you need at least 22 guys performing at par to make headway.

Checking off one piece of that 22 man puzzle is not going to make the difference at ISU Rhoads apologists. CPR has to win next year.

Lazard is more of a Cyclone than 3/4 the folks on this board who would apparently change their commitment to ISU at the drop of a hat in the same situation.

Fair weather vs die hard.

This is incorrect. No one is changing their commitment to ISU. The commitment to "these coaches" is what's changing from a fan's point of view. If you want to take what's happening on this board this season out of context, one could say that the fans are more committed to ISU than Lazard considering he stated that CPR is 95% of the reason he's committed. So, if CPR was not here, he would only be 5% committed to ISU. That's fact but it's still taking what he said out of context.

I didn't get that at all from the video. I took it as there has been so much speculation in the media about Lazard decommitting because of the bad season, Sears took it as a chance to let Lazard say multiple times he would be a Cyclone. But I'm sure the negative posters will always look at things as a slight against ISU.

This!

Sears could have utilized the time a little better.

Now we're complaining that the reporter did everyone in the country a favor by having Lazard confirm his commitment more than once?!?! I thought his questions were good and on point considering this season.

Wow. Someone magically transformed hawkeyenation.com and hawkeyereport.com into a troll tv reporter.

If you've already called ISU the "Cyclowns" on television, an interview that's 90% questioning an Iowa kid's decision to go to ISU basically confirms that Sears is more a Hawkeye troll than a journalist. It even makes Murph and Andy look bad for defending him when he shows he's just a typical message board squawk.

Move this to the rivalry forum because it's no different than any other failed troll job by a teenage Hawkeye fan. Kid seems like he'd have been a much better fit staying in Cedar Rapids.

Saw that last night it just seems like Sears was trying to create news, kept saying you never teetered on you decision?? and you could go anywhere why not ?? He was on our bus to the bowl game last year it almost seemed like it was a forced assignment. Now he's got the cyclone beat and not too excited about!!

Not complaining and watching the whole video it makes me 100% sure this guy is coming to ISU, what I am saying is how is not a little insulting when he has repeatedly said yes to everyone and they are still questioning him? I mean how many more times can they say we suck without actually saying we suck.

I agree. But, if it was an issue for Lazard, he could just stop doing interviews. Obviously, he's a big enough icon that he could put out a statement saying that he will not do any more interviews, he's staying committed to ISU so don't ask. Or, he could ask the reporter for the set of questions prior to the interview and mark off the ones he doesn't want to answer. There are ways around that question. However, I will ask you, if you were a reporter right now considering the state of ISU football, what questions would you be asking him?

I think the reporter did his job then. Wouldn't you agree?

Also, the more Lazard comes out in the media and says he's staying committed, the less likely he is to change his mind in the last hour, no matter what may happen with coaches or whatever.

...and besides, how many Hawkeye fans out there watching this do you suppose were ticked off that he's showing no signs of wavering?

(just trying to throw a bone to the Hawk haters)

It is a story because of the insult CPR gives the ISU fans with the team he puts on the field on Saturdays. We are that bad. There is no way around it.

If Sears wants to stay in DesMoines and not force half of WHO's sports fans to change the channel every time they see his face he needs to change. ISU fans recognize Muph & Andy as guys not from Iowa who really are impartial professionals, and we actually liked an outright Iowa fan Chris Hassel (sp?), but having a Hawk troll on the staff calling us Cyclowns and badgering a prized recruit repeatedly doesn't make sense for a WHO sports team that has dominated the market. Kid should have stayed in Cedar Rapids or left the state. I think Andy Fales does a good job but he shouldn't be on the Cubs beat for a career like they seem to have Sears doing.

I think 2-3 confirmations worded differently could have been doing his job. Asking for 7-8 confirmations worded differently from an Iowa fan who called us "Cyclowns" on the air is well into the unprofessional zone.

Adam Woodbury was ranked similarly high and Iowa basketball was just as bad, did Iowa media hound the kid about his dumb decision to join what had just been the worst BCS conference basketball program? I'm guessing he never had a TV interview where they asked him 10 times if he was still going to Iowa when they got blown out by Campbells Soup. Maybe he was already signed when that blowout happened, but that program SUCKED when a highly recruited Iowa kid signed with them anyway.

No, no...The coaches and players are working their tails off in the face of adversity. You just choose to attack and demean them. Guess which is the insult to Cyclones fans?

LoLz again. Who exactly do you think would come to ISU, when they just fired a guy who 2 years prior they gave a 10 year contract too.

Oh by the way come here and coach we have a amazing recruiting class... oh whats that? Lazard, Mister etc are all de-committing...

Lol you got to be kidding me.

Jerry Kill can't even coach some of the games due to his seizures. If I was a player, that'd be a red flag. It's scary stuff and who knows how much longer he coach. I for one think he should leave coaching all together.
