I don't find a weekly pay rate for NFL minimum 53 squad but the annual rookie rate divided by 17 weeks ($28,235) is almost 4 times the $7600 weekly practice squad members receive. He also would get a 3 week minimum even though there are only two weeks left in the season. Eighty-five grand is a nice little Christmas present.
Man I should've been an NFL player

You're joking right? Treadwell is officially a bust. He has been replaced by Aldrick Robinson who was released by Atlanta and SF, the past 2 seasons. Lazard would be a massive improvement.
...and Lazard wasn't even drafted. Treadwell might be a bust but he's spent time on an NFL team. Lazard has done exactly nothing in the NFL. It took players on IR to get him onto a roster!

Hot take: I'll bet Treadwell is on an NFL roster somewhere next year (albeit on a prove it contract) while Lazard is still on a practice squad...at best.

I'm not going to tell you Lazard is for sure going to be a long term NFL player, but I'd bet anything that if you ask the Vikings front office, would they draft Treadwell knowing what they now know, the answer would be no. Teams don't draft perfectly, so saying Treadwell is better, simply because he was drafted is disingenuous.

On a roster (without extenuating circumstances see LeVeon Bell) generally means they're a better football player than those not on rosters. Of course maybe you just know something 31 other teams don't know. Or maybe the front offices are attempting to not win games to get the best draft picks they can.

And your statement doesn't question whether they would draft Treadwell or not. They do choose having Treadwell on their roster before Lazard.

Having to defend Treadwell makes me sick but to say Lazard is better is just stupid. Heck, maybe Lanning is a better player than all the other scrubs who only play special teams!

The nice thing is that regardless of what happens, he'll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. So really, he's auditioning for all 32 teams these last two weeks.

Usually teams put team options in the contract when they sign a practice squad player... basically if he does well, it gives the team that signed the player the ability to keep the playerif they do well. I don't think the details of the deal are available yet (could be wrong) but would be surprised if the Packers signed him for two games and then he immediately becomes an unrestricted free agent... assume he would be a restricted free agent.

Ill just put this one out for ya: Kurt Warner

Not saying that it will happen the same way, but to say since he is not on a roster he is obviously worse is silly. Front offices miss both ways on players all the time.

Man, did Lazard sleep with your sister and not call her back or something? You’re working hard to make sure people know you think he’s not very good.

The Vikings are very strapped for cash and had a rookie OC this offseason (who they fired). The only big move they were making (not that signing/playing lazard would be a big move) was signing Kirk Cousins. Treadwells contract was guaranteed this year which means they would have to eat the cost of cutting him. The whole reason Lazard signed with Jacksonville was because they said they wouldn't ask him to move to TE and they wouldn't sign any other UDFA WR. I bet no other team was willing to make that deal. Now I personally don't think he should have took that deal just because Bortles is a bad QB but no one would ever accuse Lazards agent of being the brightest bulb in the box.

Lazard still has room grow as a player and could potentially still be a quality starter (Adam Thielen anyone) where as Treadwell is going to be at best the 4th or 5th best option on any team at any point in his career, basically he is what he is at this point.

Funny that Cordarrelle Patterson didn't do **** with Minny (except return kicks), and yet the Pats have found him pretty useful in their backfield.

Both Rodgers and Lazard will play Sunday. Somehow that offense has to figure out how to play together. It's been like a season-long case of blue balls watching them move in fits and starts.

Cobb, Perry, Matthews, Bulaga could all be gone next season. Gutekunst is going to build this team back, hopefully before Rodgers is done.

Slightly off topic, have you ever woke up in a strange bed still drunk, unable to find the restroom and convinced yourself taking a dump in a pillow case is a good idea??? Yeah, me neither.

No but I know a guy who peed in a dorm room garbage can once under those circumstances.

The sad thing about Treadwell is he might be the most successful 1st round receiver from that year. Coleman was a huge bust, Doctson hasn't done anything. Fuller has been solid, but can't stay on the field.
