Palmer- Please give me the kind of stink that gives us winning seasos, big wins over ranked teams and post season fun. I'm not saying Morgan is a great coach, but certainly better than he is being given credit for by some.

I want better than Morgan gave us.

For the umpteenth time Morgan is almost 60 years old. Many people would be thrilled to be retired by 55, especially some basketball coaches that have to deal with a lot of travel and pressure. Maybe Morgan has had enough of it. The fact that Morgan chooses to own a satellite company does nothing to change the fact that he had all winning seasons, went 5-2 in the post season, and had more success against ranked teams than any ISU coach I can think of, and probably the best in ISU history. Again, anybody want to compare that to Greg? But the beat goes on for Morgan bashers where facts continue to be ignored and unsubstantiated rumors and biased opinions become facts.

Not unsubstantiated rumors. we were losing scollies and the grades were terrible. I commend him for coming to the rescue, but his recruiting was going to take a hit. and the program was already in decline.

Mac had to start substantially lower and is making progress on the scollie losses and in the NCAA rankings. What kills me is when people say that we are being more patient with Greg. He's had one additional year and he started in a much larger hole. All the detractors keep minimizing that. JP from the very beginning has said that the hole was too big to expect results right away.

Per wiki - Morgan continues to reside in Ames, Iowa and is owner of Mid-Iowa Satellite, a company that sells satellite television, internet and telephone services

If Wayne was such a great coach why is he not doing just that - or maybe he makes the same amount of money in his current business :mask: I don't know.

If i'm not mistaken he was still on ISU's payroll for a while after he was fired. Owning the dish company and his "supplemental" income may have been enough for him.

I'm not saying he was the answer because he was not. A

To those who complain about his consistency, I would rather be inconsistent and win a few games against ranked opponents than be consistently BAD like we are with the current coach.

And don't even argue about the 1 win against ranked opponents because there is no comparison between the success that Morgan had and the lack there of with McD.

Mikeiastat- Sorry, I just don't consider a returning line-up of Stinson, Blaylock, Clark, and an experienced Jiri and Taggart to be a program in decline. Imo that team gets back to the NCAA and does some damage there, and we could have continued to build on that. We had DeGand coming off redshirt and good recruits coming in. That scenario could easily have happened had JP not undercut Morgan and staff in year 3. You may want to check on this but it's been posted on this board that the gpa was improved under Morgan from LE. And with Morgan's recruiting ability and great connections out east, I doubt his recruiting would have taken much of a hit if any. Morgan had already proven he could overcome losses like Haluska, George and Faulkner and still deliver big wins and winning seasons. The program was certainly not in decline. Decline is what we've suffered the last 4 years.
