impressive how he made it through winter workouts despite all the pain just to lead the rest of the guys.

God damn it. ****. I was a kamikaze undersized linebacker back in my high school days, so I was a big fan. This sux. Best of luck to him in the future. Hope he gets into coaching. He's a natural born leader.

If he sticks around through the season and helps his teammates...I hope they consider giving him the recognition he deserves on senior day! His family and himself are all outstanding Cyclones and wish him the best!

I probably had this decision made a while ago, but we were just starting winter workouts, which is our hardest regimen. I didn’t want to say I was in too much pain to be doing this stuff anymore. I love my teammates so much. I love this coaching staff. I love what they are doing to change the culture here. I wanted to try to be a leader during winter workouts and help guys get through it. I wanted to be there participating with them and not just cheering them on, so I finished winter workouts with them and decided it was time to hang up the cleats. I told the team this morning about my decision. They are very important to me and I wanted them to know the reason I am here is for them. I’m going to stick around and do whatever I can to help this team. I will do anything for them, and I wanted them to know that. I need to come to terms with my decision and make a positive out of it.

Guy is basically held together with glue and twine at this point, but still goes through the most strenuous workout regimen of the whole year with the team because he wanted to help them through the transition.

That kind of maturity, leadership, and plain goddamn toughness is just so rare. Talk about leading by example. He's already proving that he would make a good coach.

All of that is true. But I'll add that with the toughness and crazy antics and all of the rest of it there is also a really nice person.

It's one thing to fly around and work your *** off on a good team. It's another to do it while you're playing on a bad one. As the previous gif showed, the guy never quit, even down 41-7 at KSU. Thanks Levi for your heart and your effort. Get well and take that passion to your next thing in life.

Way up there
As if you didn't already think Levi was a tough S.O.B, he finishes the hardest part of offseason conditioning (apparently even tougher with the new coaching staff) before deciding he is done. You really have to feel for the guys that have been busting their butts in the program the last few years, especially a guy like Peters, who literally gave up his body for a team that has won 8 games the last 3 years. I can't remember one negative thing said by or about Levi, just a class act. Wish him the best of luck and appreciate all he gave for ISU.
