He can probably do just as much for the team on the sidelines helping.

Obviously not an easy decision for him. Sounds like he tried but it just wasn't in the cards.

I like the sound of him helping the team out in another capacity, coaching or something

he had no buisness playing big 12 football #slow

And this is why people love college football because guys like Levi, "who have no businness playing" somehow find the field. And yes, he belonged on the field.

Guy is basically held together with glue and twine at this point, but still goes through the most strenuous workout regimen of the whole year with the team because he wanted to help them through the transition.

That kind of maturity, leadership, and plain goddamn toughness is just so rare. Talk about leading by example. He's already proving that he would make a good coach.

Bolded the most important parts of Levi we'll miss. Much respect for the guy.

Probably not the right thread but I'll do it anyway. A college kid stopped at my house wanting to give me a bid on something, noticed he's kind of a big kid wearing ISU coat and as we started talking he said he was FORMER walk on and was let go by the current staff and just sounded like they are definitely cleaning house and lots of guys have left the program (which we all know) and just appears he want his own guys. The workouts are crazy. He had nothing but good things to say about CPR. Makes one wonder if Luke and Levi would have hung it up if CPR was still the coach. For their sake I'm glad they did. CMC is not screwing around FWIW.

I don't think that's necessarily the case, but I'm sure his staff is trying to "trim the fat." Iowa State can't afford to have low effort or injury prone players on the roster. I'm sure Campbell wants folks like Lazard, Jordan Harris, & Tucker to stick around.

Of course. Not implying everyone, this kid just said he's weeding guys out so to speak.

Levi is a class act. Campbell has asked him to stick around and help with the program. Levi says that he loves the new staff. The injuries he has suffered and the condition his body is in have ended his career. Sounds like this is not a situation where Levi has been cut loose by the new staff. It sounds like it is a situation that Levi has a lot of injuries and must end his career and not jeopardize his health.

IMO, there could be a few more similar situations. I wonder how Gabe Luna, Terry Ayeni, and other players that have been chronically injured are physically. And I wonder what kind of physical conditioning we had under CPR with all of these guys having such serious injuries. Is it bad luck or a bad system?
