Local Sweet Corn ready?

I've not seen any local sweet corn in CR area but I gotta think it is getting close.

Anyone getting it in their area?

The Grimes people have been set up on 13th street and Grand in Ames for the past couple of weeks, the guy said it their early stuff so the ears and corn is small. But it was not bad, $10 bucks for a dozen,

What hybrids do you like best ? Am not fond of PC, pioneer had a sweet corn with white kernels that was awesome but haven’t found that in years.

Ears these 2 weeks have been good sized for early.

Had first batch (Penick’s) on July 3rd, smaller ears but good flavor. Bought some again today (Deardorf) and it was a lot bigger, but flavor was lacking.

I just picked up sweetcorn out of a pickup truck. The sign said $7 and I said I just need a half dozen. The kid said $3. I thought why wouldn't you sell the 6pack for $4. It would be cheaper too buy 2 6s than a dozen. I'll find out tonight if it's any good.

Remedy was amazing. Not sure you can get it anymore. I like Revision and Obsession II. Modern sweet corn hybrids are leaps and bounds better than the old products like Ambrosia or Peaches & Cream

We had a friend whose dad sold hybrid sweet corn and he called PC Peaches and Crap.

Raccoons haven’t hit mine yet. It usually is 3 days before it is ready!

Put the electric fence up last wk, 1 wire about 4-6 inches off the ground the 2nd wire about 4to 6 above that. Pain in the butt to make sure it doesn't ground out.

Edit if they cross the barrier it might be time for Golden Malrin and coke.
