Short piece in the Register that she is out for the season. Anyone know how severe it is and is she eligible to redshirt?

We've been discussing it in the CS-F thread, but it makes sense to make it a new thread.

If she's interested in a medical redshirt, she is eligible. ISU has 29 games scheduled plus 1 game for the postseason tournaments (regardless of how many games we actually play). 30% of 30 games is 9 games, and we've only played 8.

This really sucks for her and the team. However, she was not going to see major minutes this year. If you look at the "close" games we have had this year, she was not playing. I was hoping that she would parlay her 5-7 minutes a game into good experience for next year though.

I think you are selling her potential value to this years team way short. She was playing better each game. Started out with minutes but no stats and ended up with some scoring and decent rebound contributions along with some good defense. She was our only rotation player other than Hallie that is even 6-foot tall. We are going to be in trouble in any game were we have foul trouble or someone is sick or hurt.

Look for Jordan Jensen (6'2' Freshman) to start getting some minutes. She's going to have to learn quickly. I'd also look for Fallon to help take some of the minutes that Maddie was filling when Hal was on the bench.

Fallon is already averaging more minutes than Maddie was. Hopefully she will be able to get some more of those minutes. Maddie was also playing with the scrub team at the end of the blowout games.... and we have had a lot of those, so her 10 mins a game a inflated. I expect that we will need to make up around 5 minutes or so because of this injury.

I don't know if our past stats are of much relevance, because her biggest role was defensively against bigger teams. With some of the ticky tack fouls they have been calling on Hallie the last couple games, I'm sure the coaching staff is losing sleep about how to defend the better teams we will be facing.

At BF's lunch yesterday, he said Jensen is still struggling to catch up. I'm sure the staff has sat down with Fallon and told her how much they need her leadership now. She is strong, and can take their post out of their comfort zone. Rosie, Rosie, where art thou Rosie?

I agree with this - Maddie is a great girl and tries hard, but this should not affect the team much.

Jensen may be struggling to catch up, but she is going to have to play, I believe. At the least, she can play some D and has good size. She may get five fouls pretty quickly, but she can give Hallie a little rest while doing so. If Matlock plays, then we will have ten fouls to give.

I was just glad to see her out there contributing. Plus, I think she was gaining confidence each and every game she played. It is hard to say what she could have been by conference season, or by the end of the season in time for the NCAA, but I think she could have been making a significant contribution. Plus, it would have helped the team for next year. Also, she was giving minutes that allowed Hallie some rest.

Fallon and Jordan need to step up now and help fill the void. I think Fallon has some talent, but she kind of reminds me of where Maddie was last year. She just does not look very sure of herself out there. Jordan is still a huge question mark.

What is Tenisha's basketball background? Obviously, I gather she played in high school, but is there any more information on her background?

I believe I saw her say on twitter that ISU just wasn't a good fit.

I worked with a juco player committed to NC State this fall who practiced with ISU players last summer. I asked her about Rosie - and she rolled her eyes and gave me the distinct impression that Rosie was.not.good.

How does the scholarships work for different sports? The volleyball player has ended her career in that sport but if she now plays basketball does she have any eligibility left? She is a very talented athlete and may be ahead of Jensen in conditioning. This is definitely a positive sign for the team.
