The idea that we have top flight receivers is the most repeated myth on this site. Call me when they make a block, or consistently run tight routes, or catch the ball with regularity.

I don't have your number.

It's a little blurry...

The very predictable next thing to happen: someone resurrects the thread about Mangino's hiring so the people who were enthusiastic about it can be mocked and the people who were skeptical can say "I told you so".

I think we need to hold off and wait for BodeClone's take on this.

Well played, fella. Your insult helps me to better understand how our receivers have in fact physically and through innate talent dominated opposing defenses. I have been wrong to believe my eyes.
We will see this week, I know with Lanning we don't pass as much, but with a potential more accurate pass a lot more will happen, watch the reply of the second half....

One thing that always bothered me in the post games this year was the common theme of Rhoads saying, "We should have ran the ball more" and "we'll use Lanning more next week". It always made me think, you said that last week, so why hasn't anything changed? I guess it all makes since now why nothing was changing.

Kick The Can...

The way I see it is:
Ultimately what firing MM does is kick the can down the road and buys Rhoads another year - and buys JP another year to figure out the situation. It also eats another year off a possible Rhoads buyout.

There are many different possible behind-the-scenes scenarios - we may never know the entire story and this story has multiple complex dynamics. Ultimately the head coach is accountable for the W-L record and who he hires and how much control he cedes. The AD has multiple considerations as well - financial considerations, what is the current national coaching situation, filling the seats, etc...

ISU doesn't have a track record of football success so it all must be viewed through that lens.

I think this is a win/win for Rhoads-Pollard (and hopefully ISU fans) at this point.

I'm excited for the Texas game - and to see Lanning 4 quarters.

He was hamstrung by a coach who tried to micro-manage him. I will never believe for a minute that Mark Mangino is not a superior coach to CPR in every way.

Mangino had complete control over the offense. This has been known since he took the job here. Its entirely possible that what happened today was because CPR finally interjected himself into the offensive game plan, and Mangino didnt like it.

Most talent ever??? Why do people keep saying this? Its just not true ... either by the stars or by what we see on the field.

When have we had a better overall offense?

Sure seems like a resignation, not a firing so no can is being kicked.

Regardless of fault, blame or reason, we now have a disgruntled employee off of the ISU football staff. I ask this seriously and do not need any snarky replies, but do we have to worry about our signals and play calls being tipped to our future opponents? Opinions?

Only be worried if OU or Texas hire him right now.

I'm sure Mangino was the one who called the play to the left hash against Toledo and the Picture of Paul and Jamie talking after the game was Jami saying what the H** was he thinking! Never good seeing a change in the middle of the season however this could get the players to respond in a positive way as well. Not like the offense was unbelievable, only showed up a qtr of the games for the past 2 years.

Side note: ISU is a tough job and if CPR gets 2/3 wins which would be a stretch and competitive in the losses. He will be coming back next year.
