...and I should clarify I'm not against TJ coming back. Just not seeing the why.

Yeah, if job security at Wash is tenuous then yes, I see it.

Is malik dime enrolled at Washington? Or would he be able to play right away at Iowa St.? If he would want to.

That's right. Still don't see a reason for him to be the leader in the club house. Granted we've had more success than Wash but to move laterally to another asst pos and then back again. Don't see the dots connectingn.

I think he wanted to build is resume. Now that he has more diverse work experience, he's acheived that goal of building his resume.

He would be just a temporary hire, as he would likely be a candidate for head coaching gigs in the future.

I'm going to be honest, I would have mixed feelings about bringing TJ back. Never met him, but have heard from most accounts that he is a good guy. He also helped build the program when Fred first got here.

On the other side, he left us for what was, at best, a lateral move at Washington. Feel like I haven't heard news of him bringing in any top-caliber talent there (no, Dime doesn't count). Just feel like we could make a bigger "splash" hire. Also, what GeorgesFan posted about not wanting him back concerns me/piques my interest.

I guess I missed it, what was said?

He signed a NLI with Washington, so I think he sits a year if he transfers again.

Couldn't Washington release him from the NLI? Like the Doug McDermott situation with UNI and Creighton. If Washington would do this.

Someone mentioned the possibility of TJ coming back, GeorgesFan quoted their post and said something to the effect of, "Trust me, you don't want him back."

That was all that was said. But obviously not going to take it lightly, given the source.

There has to be someone in Souix City that we can hire. It's about time we break through the Souixland and take away Fran's grip on that hot recruiting ground.

I'd prefer a young, up and coming type guy. We lost our 'ace recruiter', and Abdelmassih brought in a ton of talent - more so than TJ, in my opinion.

Should have a good pool of candidates to choose from.

This is the exact quote from GeorgesFan: "You don't want him...trust me" --- Like you, SighClone, this does concern me about possibly rehiring TJ.

Not saying it's not possible but why would TJ come back? I would think if he left Washington it would be for a head coaching gig.

Way up there
I think the impact Matt and TJ had is pretty inflated around here. Under Fred we've missed on over half of the high school kids we've brought in. Not saying its all on these guys and I do appreciate what these guy did at ISU but some new blood could be nice. We've been in on big recruits, just never really landed one.

Yes. He doesn't have to sit a year until he is actually enrolled at a school, at least I am 90% sure thats the rule. Seems like stretch that Washington would release him, or that he would want a release.
