Moot point. Urban and the bucks are circling the wagons and ESPN talking heads are supporting the narrative. Coaches lying to media is nothing new. And Meyer told his superiors when the incidents happened, thus they not he are responsible for the outcomes. It's time to move on to preparations for the season.

I have seen it all now...surly with wisdom we should all live by.

If you're lookin' for a commitment from CMC......well good luck with that my friend, its never gonna happen in this lifetime.....
I don't want him to give us his "verbal" commitment. We all know what those are worth. Actions speak the loudest and so far he has been examplary.
I am under no delusion that MC will coach here for the next 10 years and I fully expect him to accept if the OSU job was ever offered to him. It would be tough to see him go but I would understand and wish him the best if he is able to get the program to a strong enough point that it can carry on the momentum when he leaves.

ISU fans can be some of the best and some of the most ********. And often within minutes of each other. I’m guilty too but this just doesn’t feel like an “oh ****” moment.

Thats funny bosco....."How Insecure this fan base is"......All you have to do to find the reason for insecurity is to look over east where they have had 2 football coaches since 1979....I hate to say it because my family went to ISU but.....The things ISU is best at is....... LOSING football games and LOSING football coaches to OSU and of course Natl Champs Auburn......

Ohh, shut the **** up.

Peterson may be a major douchebag...but he's not wrong here.

Self fulfilling prophecy since Randy can just keep bringing it up again and again.

Get off to a good start, "Oooh this is good for CMC but bad for ISU!"

Get off to a bad start, "How does this impact CMC to OSU?"

Beat Iowa, "Man, this has got to impress OSU!"

State Fair, "Ooooh, CMC was seen in the fortune tellers tent. Speculation he was in a seance with Earl Bruce and Woody Hayes!"

Dry August, "How will this weather impact CMC to OSU?"

Breakfast, "If CMC eats ham and eggs for breakfast at ISU what will he eat for breakfast at OSU?"

If it goes on till Christmas, "Is it true that CMC was roasting buckeyes on an open fire and not chestnuts?"

He'll also find a way to take a dig at ISU.

'So if you were at OSU, would you run the same offense with players that are so much better than what you have here?'

It's not that RP is wrong in his speculation that this won't go away, it's that he's every bit a part of why it won't go away, and he couldn't wait more than a few hours after CMC basically, politely said, 'Shut the **** up and let me coach' to blow it up.

It's funny, because he's generally a Hawk reporter, but I grew up reading Hlas out of the Gazette, but he's generally pretty good to ISU and his write up the other day about the Meyer situation just covered that without bringing CMC into it.

This is my rationale as to why CMC stays for at least a few more years- by thinking about what makes a man like him tick: CMC says "I am the type of guy that wants to do something [great at ISU.]" Think with me: what does CMC want to do? I think he wants to win the Big 12 or at least play in the game, and of course change the culture along the way. I think he has proven that he has passion for what he is doing, and the goals he is working towards. He is invested. He is reading these self-help books. How do you achieve greatness? By being "present" right where you are, by dreaming big and putting your passion to work. Maybe money is not his bottom line. (Studies show that after around $90K/year money does NOT improve happiness and maybe he knows that.) Given this profile (based on assumptions obviously) it doesn't make sense that, just as CMC is beginning to get the pieces in place that he busted his tale for- just when he is about to start to have some real fun playing with those pieces, seeing his vision materialize- that he would quit the game and decide to play something else, with horses mid-stream. I think that's what CMC is communicating to us and who he has demonstrated himself to be. On the other hand, he is also being very diplomatic and not saying too much because he is smart and there are no guarantees. There are multiple (unlikely?) scenarios personally and professionally that could see CMC gone in a year or two but that's not where things are now, and that's not where CMC's head, not to mention his heart, is now.

Ahh, the funny delusions we always go with as Cyclone fans.
If that job opens this year, and they offer this year, he's gone this year. That's what competitive guys do and that's what people building a career do when the biggest openings appear.

I'd love to hear what the Toledo guys are thinking right now about what Campbell might do.

There are never cut and dried answers. Who would have thought Johnny would leave Michigan (after having a runner up finish recently) and go to ISU? You have Ferentz sitting at Iowa. There are others. I honestly have no idea. He could look at the situation and say, it’s kinda messy to step into with extremely high expectations still. Perfect situation if he wants it, stoops does take it and retires after 5 years after so so success.

You oversimplify. There's more to it. The timing is wrong. I don't think CMC will leave this year.
