If this happens its because Pollard wont give him a raise. Plain and simple. If he cries Covid reasons, he just needs to look down the pew at his Church buddy as a way to find money. Some MAC coach can do what Prohm is doing for a quarter of the money.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read on here.

And just an FYI a MAC coach isn't coming to Iowa State for a 500,000 per year.

If this happens its because Matt wants to coach in the NFL. That's about it.

It's this story https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...interview-iowa-state-coach-as-part-of-search/

Which I guess does not confirm he is speaking to them, but that is expected to. So nothing too alarming, but a national media outlet is reporting on it, so not nothing either

Yeah, so nothing - that's the same article that was posted 4 pages ago that everyone is talking about. It's a "source" saying Campbell is expected to speak to the Jets. Doesn't even specifically say interview (other than the headline), and is far from confirmed.

All you do is post negative crap, so not surprised you're worried.

If it happens it's because Campbell wants to be in the NFL. Simple as that. Matt knows that Jamie and the fan base would do everything we could to keep him.

Coach Hoiberg had far stronger ties to Ames/ISU and he still abandoned us...
because he made no bones about wanting to coach in the NBA, he would have left ISU after just being here a year if an NBA job opened up and he was offered a job regardless where it was.

Agreed. There’s not much difference in what Gase made last year in NY and what CMC made here. I doubt money is what’s going to keep him or what’s going to lure him away.

People also don’t understand that we’d have to pay even more to fire Prohm to bring in someone “cheaper” lol.

JP will do everything in his power to keep Campbell, as he should. Prohm is safe until his contract expired or CMC moves on.

Sorry I like to live in the real world, not in the clouds pretending nothing bad could ever happen.

i agree with what you say about the timing. Again, I believe he stays, so these comments are only intended for "if he leaves" discussion. Two thoughts:

1) Leave when the team is stacked sets it up for pollard to find a higher caliber coach.
2) Leave with this group of seniors after they commit to staying another year would be a kick to the groin. That would be hard for me if I was a Cyclone fan.

Hoiberg always wanted to coach in the NBA. His problem was he took the FIRST job offered to him instead of the best job for him. Everyone knew the Bulls job was not a good fit for Freddie. The Wolves job would have been far better. That being said, he's now stuck at Nebby and it might literally kill his coaching career.

This reminds me a lot when Orr retired... Did he quit because he did not want leaving the cupboard bare? Or did he want to come back and he was told no?

I know Matt's situation is different and it will be up to Matt what he wants to do. Regardless, he has been great for ISU and let's hope he stays and give the media outlets a big "screw you."

Ok sorry. Some high school coach. My point being, why are we paying our hoops coach millions to be one of the worst this school has ever employed if money is so tight. People that would get last every year for 500k is a pretty long list.

And buy outs can be spread out and divested over several years. Stop with the buy outs will cost more than firing him, that is stupid.

If Pollard pulls any of the nickel and dime **** he did with Fred, with MC, it will be infuriating.

Pollard knows that football is the ultimate cash cow. Nickel and dime BB all you want. Feed the football beast and the money will flow back in tenfold.
