For some reason we lose our best coaches (Cael Kindler Fred etc).

The concern is his ego gets in the way

This weeks tweet is an example:

Our last 15 years we’ve accomplished so much....

Is it about him or CMC?

I don't doubt Pollard has an ego, but he has accomplished a lot. I don't put it on him losing Fred, as we knew Fred wanted to go to the NBA. How do you put that on Pollard? You would have to tell me about Kindler. I hated losing Cael, but it was clear with those last two Jamie understood he had to focus on the revenue sports. I thought Matt said Pollard was a big part of why he was here at ISU and even thought I heard he had an out if Jamie wasn't the athletic director. Can anyone confirm or refute that as I am not sure?

Meltdown for us. Freaking junior high girl New Kids on the Block giddiness from hawk fans. Just goes to show how scared they are of MC actually staying. They want him gone so bad.

They don't mind Kirk, just know Matt is good (they love to say he hasn't beaten them yet) and they are afraid Brian will be their next coach.

Matt's contract significantly reduces they buyout another school would have to pay if Jamie is no longer AD.

Sounds like the Jets sent CMC a text asking him to give them a call. CMC is on vacation, looks at his schedule and says sure I’ll call you at 8 am tomorrow. CMC might not even know why they are calling maybe he’s hoping they have an opening for One of our grad assistants or wants to scout some of our guys.

The Jets let it leak that “they’re talking to Matt Campbell about their opening”. The news media blows up and One of CMC’s relatives calls him or someone asks “why are you interviewing with the Jets”? CMC cusses and says they just asked me to call them, didn’t think they were looking for a coach after two years, why would I ever go there????

So CMC calls Randy Peterson and tells him that he is NOT interviewing for the Jets job.

All of this is pure speculation on my part but all the pieces and stories seem to fit.

Everything about CMC indicates that he wants to turn ISU into the Power 5 version of Mt. Union. I think if he does interview for a job we’re screwed. Until then let’s enjoy the ride.

I'm convinced crap news media just need material to talk about and potential coach changes are something.

Pro Football Network with the title Matt Campbell Making Jump to NFL 2021 talks about his long history with the NFL. By history they claim the patriots called him to be a position coach and jets called him to be head coach, both positions he turned down and stayed with college ball. They then talk about how its less than 5% and maybe less that 1% chance he would take a head coach job with the jets. Then talk about why the jets wouldn't want him anyway. Talk about less than useless garbage.

Caution: you do not want to waste your time reading. Provided link for source only.
The other funny thing is the quote that people around the NFL are skeptical of MC because he’s too buddy-buddy with his players.

Buyout reduced by 50% if Pollard is no longer AD. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect Campbell to stay forever, but if things continue to go well, it seems like the AD/GM relationship would be a critical factor if he decided to move on. If you’re making enough, getting to choose who you work for/with is a nice perk.

Cael was delivered a Brinks truck from PSU and Fred wanted to coach in the NBA. I don't think Jamie could really do anything about either. I have no knowledge of the gymnastics situation (had to Google Kindler).
I think if the Cael situation happened today, Pollard would have been able to keep him. Pollard the AD back then and Pollard the AD now are almost like two totally different people.

Lots of reasons why, but the main one is the TV revenue was $7 million/yr when cael left and now it is around $44 million.

I see your point but Cael was gone probably no matter what.

Does Mrs. Campbell want them to raise their kids in New Jersey?

Edited to say "Mrs." (which is what I meant).

Not exactly sure.
It’s like marriage, get through the 7 year itch and then it is generally the long haul. Get him what he wants for the next couple years and increase his buyout to a huge number so if he gets poached, we have money to go after anyone. I believe next year is huge. A lot CMCs future here may hinge on what he believes he has for a Purdy replacement. Hope he believes he has his own thing here and can be nearly idolized if he sticks around 10-15 years. By then we have a base built and are solid.
