Also I've found the best place to go for Mediacom customer service is their support forums, the guys on there are super fast to reply, and you don't have to wait on hold then.

CenturyLinkHelp has been sitting by quietly since October just waiting for his moment to strike.

Yeah, seriously. At first I thought he just setup an account to reach out to a couple people having issues with their CL service, but the account was setup 4 months ago! Welcome CenturyLinkHelp. There is plenty of Mediacom hate in this forum, so you should have many friends here.

Very happy with CenturyLink today:

Yesterday I was getting .75M and sometimes 200ms pings with 20% packet loss.

i would pay $20 extra per month just to sink those bastards at mediacom. I want them to go under, and several national cable companies swoop in and enable competition, for example chicagoland has $30 cable tv because there is competition....

Eep, when I get 6Mb/s I call Mediacom and tell them something's wrong.

I agree but I'm guessing this person doesn't pay $65/month.

I haven't witnessed it but it looks like for the same amount of money, CenturyLink has 40mbps.

Cheap it is not.

I'd guess the geographical area that is capable of getting a 40Mbps package from CL is very, very small.

7mps for Centurylink if you don't get phone=$45

12mbps for Mediacom if you don't get cable=$65

12mbps for Centurylink if you don't get a phone=$50

I currently pay for mediacom but fiber is going to be at my house in the next couple of months. Mediacom will be gone shortly after.

With any luck we will be there by Tuesday.

Went to Southslope for both Cable and Internet and haven't looked back.

On average I was getting about .5 down speed on my internet. I was paying for 3 down. Horrible service.

I would do mediacom, but I am worried about stability. Being able to work from home is very nice.

Mediacom has been solid for me in Ankeny. Centurylink will have fiber to the house in our area, but it seems like they are also having allot of issues. The install is also going to cost $300. It will be a tough choice since I am getting 50/5 from Mediacom for $70.
