This. Our offense looked worse than horrible at times...and others he looked like a genius in the playcalling. Part of me thinks he was getting better but at the same time i'm excited for the new hire. And I don't think you could keep him on staff and just demote him even though I think that's what the coaching staff would have liked. But I am not an insider.

Peters Principle.

I wonder if we will see a couple more firings. I think Rhoads had these two in mind for awhile now and didn't need to review much tape, but with other coaches he may have to.

I doubt it. I think that you'd want to get the whole thing out of the way in one step.

Need to find a guy that doesn't over complicate things either. Herman was a huge hire but I think his brain was to much at times.

Too much was made of all that. My feeling is when they decided they were going to "simplify" they basically forgot all of the things a spread can give you. They took the ideology out of the scheme and therefor had no direction.

Surprised it happened as fast as it did but glad CPR did it so they could catch on else where. It was time for a change but I realize that these are real people who have families.

I know the problems with the offense aren't all Mess's fault but I think if he did an honest assessment of his performance the last two years that he would agree it wasn't working out. Sometimes things aren't fair but CPR owes it to the program, fans and players to do what it's best for the whole.

Sucks that for this program to move forward that some have to lose their jobs, I Hope they can land on their feet and thankful for there hard work.

I support the move, but refuse to "celebrate" his firing. I'm sure Mess tried his best, but was clearly out of his league. Just business at this level.

My guess is Rhoads will go with a spread guy, but somebody who will rewrite the playbook with the same personnel. Sounds like our passing concepts don't really works for what we need to do.

Has anyone given any thought to Ken O'keefe? He is now with the Dolphins. Proven track record.

At least the Cyclones are going into 2014 with a two game winning streak. Alabama can't say that.

I was good friends with the Messinghams the past couple years since their daughter went to Gilbert High School with me. They were extremely friendly and I always felt very welcomed in their home. The whole family was a class act. Wish them the best.

It's not easy firing someone that you are close to, but I am glad Rhoads was able to do it. Had to be done.

A little surprised by Pope being let go, but it is not like the RB's have been lighting it up over the years.

Rhoads will have a good opportunity to upgrade staff and Recruiting. I look forward to his hire.

Just a word of caution on this. Sam R is going to go through the same thing AA went through in his time at QB. This will be his third OC in his fourth year here. I dont see Rhoads going too far outside the box in hiring an OC with a different scheme or we get that large learning curve we had not too long ago.
