You know, I kinda like that.
You wanna avoid Gable Steveson? Well have fun opening round in 2 weeks. #losingsleep.
Obviously, that was the scenario that made me think of it but there are too many other downstream effects. Would allow conferences to apply a little pressure on their members though.

There’s a ridiculous post on HR by a parent calling out those complaining about the MFF and defending the coaches as having the athlete’s best interest in mind. If they had the athlete’s best interest in mind, they would not wrestle injured at all. The very capable backup would be allowed their shot.

Couldn’t agree more. You aren’t all the sudden “doing what’s best for the athlete” when the competition gets harder. Again it comes down to wrestle or don’t wrestle, but stop gaming the system because it’s bad for the sport. Medical forfeits are for guys who need them - like Foca in EIWA this weekend.

Can guess who. Those coaches have been nasty to others who did the same thing and now cry when it gets reversed. True hypocrisy there.

The one thing about the high end wrestlers is Nationals. Guys like Eierman & Kemerer could really care less about wrestling a dual vs Maryland. The main reason most are back is for an individual National title.

Did Ayala default also? Eierman, Kemerer and Cassioppi did

That fanbase, wrestling in particular, doesn't give a rat's ass about logic or reason.

Couldn't you just say that you don't get the conference auto-bid if you MFF? Make them get an at-large bid. Perhaps go as far as taking away the auto-bid from the conference to avoid punishing an at-large.

Remember when all the Iowa fans were talking about Spencer Lee wrestling without ACLs and how that’s Iowa wrestling? Are they still alive after this?

Not that self awareness and hawk fans belong in the same sentence, but the mouth breathers that have been wearing their "Excuses are for wussies" t-shirts to every high school dual and tournament for the last several months would do well to stash them away for awhile/permanently. That phrase is ringing pretty hollow after this weekend in Lincoln.

We went to both days of the Big10 tournament. The way Kem's shoulder is, I can see that one. The rest of them seemed like bs. Eirman was limping in his quarter match, but probably knew Rivera was going to mff or he would have at the semis. Huge letdown having two finals matches & at least 5 or 6 of the 3rd & 5th place matches forfeit. I'm glad we didn't have to drive very far to watch.

on a wrestling note, take Dean Hamiti in your wrestling pool. He is a freaking beast.

The real question is this... Was Eireman inured enough that he wouldnt have gone if Iowa was in the hunt and the opponent was say Red from Nebraska or Bergeland from Minn? Same goes for Cass would he have gone if it wasn't for Gable and was someone like Paris or Davison? Money would say they both would have went out there and scraped.

Who knows maybe they wouldnt have and it's much more serious then what we know on them.

I think we all just need to realize this is something that won't go away and in the end it's never going to be about what us fans would like to see happen.

They are more like GILF for their wheelhouse.
Into their own as they are, I’m Pretty sure they place the highest priority on getting liquored up and just having at themselves.
