Here's a nugget from a OU recruiting website thats talking about their recruits, and who they're going after. It addresses the transcript and that it was holding his recruiting back....This could be the steal of our class....so glad he's all in....

Michael Warren (6-1, 190, 4.5) – Had a huge senior year where he was the best big RB in state. Eligibility concerns have impacted his recruiting, so his first semester transcript and test scores loom large. His film, though, is excellent.

I think that Standard can be an effective short yardage player. He's strong enough and I think that he can do a good job of finding creases and picking up first downs. I don't know that he will be an effective lead blocker though. Maybe he can, but he doesn't have great size and we've just never seen him do it. Pretty tough to expect Syria to do that as a TRFR either. My guess is that they find a walk-on like Peters to play some H-Back. Sounds to me like Mangino is going to have them in one back sets most of the time, but there's going to be a need for a lead blocker at times and with Woody gone, there really isn't a scholarship player that can do that. Bibbs and Boesen aren't that player.

I seem to recall pulling Farniok like a guard during the WVU game leading the ball carriers down the field? I wouldn't mind seeing a combo of Farniok and Standard leading for Nealy/Wimberly. Sounds like a deadly force to me. Or better yet, just give Standard the ball solely behind Farniok. If what's said above is true about Standard dropping some weight perhaps they are shaping him to for more consistent use rather than just a situational back.

Bump to say thank you to OU for letting us grab Mike Warren while they took Joe Mixon.

@SBNationCFB: 5-star RB Joe Mixon suspended for season. RT @OU_Football: Official Statement of The University of Oklahoma: http://t.co/f8qvWZ8cnP

@Trey_Scott3: Hometown twist for Cyclones re Joe Mixon: Freshman RB Michael Warren probably a Sooner if Mixon didn't sign with OU in 2014

Good for us. Regardless though OU will have good runningbacks.

Also so this is regarding more domestic violence so that's not good.

Reading Land Of Thieves is pretty disgusting right now. No wonder the girl that Mixon hit was worried about the backlash. Sooner fans are painting a pretty ugly picture of themselves.

Warren is going to be a game changer by the time he leaves Isu. Very much looking forward to Nealy, warren and Ozigbo next season(s). Syria as well.

Way up there
I can't be the only one here, I hope, who believes Rob S. is ready to make a sound contribution to this team. Don't recall a thing, though, about his blocking ability. Anyone notice that last spring?

I think all of us are waiting for Nealy and Standard to produce. The future at RB looked to be pretty strong when we signed these 2 kids but neither has made much of an impact (do in part to being behind experienced guys). Wimberly showed he's serviceable but def not an every down type of back, we'll need one of the other guys to step up and contribute.

And having an incompetent OC. I've said it before but it's honestly unfair to judge any of the offensive skill players on their performances over the last couple years due to the coaching being so poor.

I was really impressed with what I saw out of him at practice and am excited for his future here. If we weren't so deep (Wimberly, Nealy, Standard and Brown) I think he would see some PT this year.
