The truth: I respect CW as an Iowa State graduate that has worked to promote Iowa State athletics full-time, and I appreciate that we have a well-run, free site where we can discuss the Cyclones. But I find his content and commentary to be completely embarrassing as an Iowa State fan. It's unfortunate that we don't have stronger representatives in the media and instead have to listen to/read CW and Randy Peterson. Do I take it too seriously? Probably.

I find your commentary embarrassing. Get a life.

You don't have to read any of it. I recommend you don't to save yourself the embarrassment.

Nice thread derail, by the way, Solar. You can put another notch in your keyboard.

Johnny Majors did feel a bit different around here, speaking from the perspective of an old-timer. He was aggressive, very engaging and a guy destined for big things. Would have been great to see what he could have done had he stayed.

But it that said, he was 24-30-1 at Iowa State. Actually about the same as Rhoads.

I'm an Iowa State fan. I read the Des Moines Register and listen to 1460 because they are primary sources for Iowa State discussion. All I said was I wish we had better representatives in the local media.

I don't even know what Mr. 2003 means...

idk, when did Chris graduate? I'm closing in on my 50th bday & get a kick out of CWs talking about our history. He's kind of a pup in my book & a great supporter of ISU.

I've told him John Walters is not the godfather of ISU play by play, Pete Taylor obviously is.
It doesnt really matter though, we both/all love ISU.

New football coaches are difficult to measure especially when they havent coached a season yet. CMC is a freaking stud, I'm all aboard & ready to pop a few brews #AStormIsBrewing at our tailgate.

Go State

CW posted something positive about the good feelings with the football program. Someone called him embarrassing, but apparently in some way that he thinks indicates respect.

The rest is just us being us.
He expressed his opinions that are different than mine.

I was there for the whole Johnny Majors era and what Johnny brought to the table was excitement and anticipation for the future. We just had a feeling that something big was starting. Young gunslinger coach with a bunch of his young assistants out to make a name for themselves and make the big time some day. It was new, refreshing, exciting and....different. His overall win record wasn't actually that good, but we did get to our first bowl game and that was huge, and then another one.

He brought in some great talent and laid the foundation for Earle Bruce to take us even further. It was a great time to be an ISU football fan and "it was different".

How the hell did we end up with Donnie Duncan?

Side note to Solar Garlic, How about an article from you so we know what you are looking for?

Amazing what you can do in any enterprise with the right people. Mac and Rhoads eras may have had different endings, had they not been hampered, in part, by their supporting casts. One of Coach Matt's biggest tests will come when he loses a key assistant to a better job.

Don't read it then. I usually never read what he writes but I really enjoy the podcasts and the sports fanatics

I like CW's content and casual style

try living in eastern Iowa and read or listen or watch the embarrassing suck ups, Hawkeye homers, pandering media types that worship the U of Iowa
