I feel like I let you guys down... I was just going to start a thread before this came out.

Heard through come people close to football players that about 20ish players have left or are leaving the program. TWENTY. Reasons why: Campbell to business like and staff about winning, not family oriented like CPR, coaches spending time on young guys and new recruits has been taken wrong way by older players, etc.

I fear these two are the first of many....

New coach, new schemes, new goals, new expectations, new program, new strength regime... Big boy football is hard.

Rumor has it the staff told the players a failed drug test would be an immediate boot, but D'Vario still failed. If that's the case, pretty boneheaded on his part.

So now we have this which means if the Thomas thing is true it means in reality both were kicked off due to failed drug tests.

I suspect you are thinking beyond 2016, but a good 2016 maintains the momentum, so Tucker is absolutely critical. Excluding him in that category is crazy.

i agree if guys are not buying in then I hope they leave. But from a talent standpoint I think people are not being realistic about this recruiting class. Outside of Catalina, if he ends up here, there isn't a DL or OL prospect ready to play and upgrade those position groups probably until 2017 at the earliest. It's still a recruiting class that is very good by ISU standards. Just like KCM, Campos, Jh. Thomas and others are very talented players by ISU standards.

I think Oge will come in and start Guard. I think that Karson Green will contend to start at Center. We have quite a few DB's that will contend to start or be on the 2 deep that were Juco's. On the Defensive Line I think we have adequate numbers coming back. We will miss Pierson the most. But I think we have some decent DE's to be as good as last year.

I think that Nerness could be ready at DE to play after RS last year. He could be very good.

Yeah but think how easy it will be to recruit when we have a CLEAN HOUSE!!1!1!! Who wouldn't want to play here after another 3-9 season!!!

Pretty sure this staff is moving towards H-backs/true fullbacks for short yardage situations. I liked Thomas's potential, but not gonna lose sleep over him being gone. Best of luck wherever he goes (unless it's UNI).
Watch the Toledo/W. Michigan game from the end of last year. Toledo ran out of the gun in short yardage twice in crucial situations and got stuffed. Sound familiar? I don't think they were under center with an H-back or true fullback even once the entire game but our local can correct me if I'm wrong.

While it may not be ideal to lose these guys (especially when they've been productive) you have to trust the coaching staff. I'm not going to lose sleep over a couple guys but if there are a few more before Spring practice we'll have to see once.

So Tucker, Campos, J. Thomas at DE. Who else is so good we can't replace? I would like Curtis to stay as I think he will blossom into a nice RT. But right now he is a depth guy. There is no one else really that stands out. Please name some names...

Our approach should be we want and welcome each and every player that wants to be a part of ISU football going forward. Our success will come from commitment and culture.

Wow, generalization at its finest. If a team has a 3 win season, they all suck and get rid of everybody. Because they are all are losers. Why do you want to keep any players? You never answered that, you just said there are three awful players we gotta keep. I never said keep all, but there are way more than the three players you mentioned that are solid players.

Geez, do you "absolute" much?

Guys that want to go can go, and you take the consequences on the field in the near future to make a better long term future, that is my logic.

The reasoning being so what if keeping these guys gets us 3 wins instead of 2? or 4 wins instead of 3? Because that is what these guys do as has been proven.

I'm sure some culture shift is necessary, but the minute a coach starts coaching games the clock starts ticking. You no longer can sell recruits on hope and vision, recruits want to see results.

Turner Gill had the #34 rivals recruiting class at Kansas in 2011. In 2012 KU was #74.

There has to be some balance, I have no idea if Campbell has the right balance or not. Some guys leaving is going to happen, but to say next year is a throwaway year simply isn't true. Even if the AD and the fans are ok with it, the recruits will be watching.

Since he met individually with EACH player when he arrived and explained to them how important it was to have seniors and juniors as leaders. Went through and showed them how teams with new coaching staffs can be successful if the veteran players buy in to what's being asked of them. Wanted to know what the players like that should be kept.
Also laid out a strict academic protocol and made it very clear what they have to do to be part of the team, with regards to school.
Oh yeah, he WANTS them to hang out in the football facility; couches, tvs, food, etc. (CPR wasn't a fan of those things happening)

Sounds like he's not family oreinted...

They aren't stupid. No P5 FB program would ever have a no tolerance policy for failed marijuana tests in 2016. That would be suicide.

While not a "P5" program, BYU is usually pretty solid. Pretty sure they have a no tolerance policy for marijuana since they have one for alcohol. Doesnt seem to be suicide for them.

Not sure how I feel about this. I'm pro marijuana, and think it should be legal, but I understand it's currently not. Also not sure how this will effect recruiting. I can't imagine there's too many schools that have a zero tolerance rule.

I have no way to confirm that, so take it with a grain of salt unless CW or one of the other insiders confirm.

Also tough to say if that will be an ongoing policy, or if that was just MC seeing who would really buy in early in his regime.

I'm really hoping that since Candle was left in Toledo and the OL coach is OC at ISU, they see the error in running shotgun on short yardage. Lanning is big enough to sneak most of the time.

I hate these ****s that would rather sabotage the program they were or are a part of then go along and try and win football games for a great university and an uber loyal fan base. Is Jake R. a part of the team still? He is not listed on the roster and his little bro still is, so i am guessing not. If his little bro is still on the team then Jake boy should STFU on retweeting negative stuff about ISU..
The list JRhoads; Severs; TBrown; Roebach; Burton; JThomas; Montgomery; Kramer; 12 more
