What did Lindquist coach on defense? Has his spot been filled? He had a ton of passion and seemed to be an asset for recruiting. I don't know how he was as a coach.

Please no. Coached our DB's, and they were awful. He's the coach I most wanted to see replaced.

Yeah, I really like Coach Linguist (DBs). However, I'm afraid that the announcement of the CB coach may mean Linguist is gone.

I have never been a fan of coaches that bring their buddies with them. Interview and pick the best candidates out there. What works at Toledo is different than what works here. Hope Campbell proves me wrong here.
Staff or buddies? Previously interviewed? Results? Or just drinking buddies CAMPBELL HAS GONE TO THE STRIP CLUB WITH. Yeah I was yelling.

Anyone else find it ironic that JP didn't want Jerry Kill to get the job because he didn't want to do that to the players, but he has no problem transplanting the entire Toledo football program (minus the players)? Haha...no complaints here. The rich get richer and finally we are the rich (in comparable terms only)!

I think that was in reference to leaving them so soon after being hired because he saw what Chizik leaving did to our players.

Just because he has worked with them doesn't mean he is bringing in buddies. He is bringing in former co-workers with whom he has a level of trust and feels they do a quality job. This allows for a quicker transition because they don't have to learn about each other. They can just hit the ground running. They know each other, what is expected and how they are expected to get it done.

The problem with hiring unknowns is that you can get a Mangino situation - great resume, probably a good interview, and a egomaniac personality.

We need a change here BADLY. We can't compete with our corners 12 yards off the receivers anymore and the Safeties 15 to 20 yards back. Need to play press coverage much, much more....

Like anything has worked well here recently?

I say let Matt do what he wants.

I'd say that more on Wally and his bend but don't break D. I thought the D backs played decent this year, better than the recent past. Helps I guess that Sam Richardson was out there getting burned, he was a safety playing CB, in the body of a band flute player (height wise).

There's a big difference between hiring your buddies and hiring your staff.

My prediction... Sturdy stays on staff to coach WRs. Call it an educated guess.

My guess on this is no. All of the old assistants except Ayeni and a few of the strength guys are all gone from the staff pictures on cyclones.com. They've edited that page all day today adding the new guys.

Its not decided yet. They met today and discussed it. Sturdy and Ayeni worked well in their time together. Sturdy has P5 experience, B12 experience, and connections in Iowa. He knows the roster and the competition. He has very little ego. Plus he is a sage veteran for these young and hungry coaches. Just my guess that he stays on as a WR coach.
