Really? If we're such a mid major school, why in the **** did we win a bowl game against a BCS school? Why in the **** did we beat a BCS school that finished Top 15 AT their place? Did you see the post-Nebraska video as the crowning highlight in the season ending montage on CBS? Jesus Christ. ISU is not a mid-major school. Mid major schools don't fill the stadium when they're 2-9. You need to quit cheering for ISU. ****.

Now is all that anger neccesary? While I do not agree with Brianhos's opinion, or share his ethusiasm for wearing snow pants, I do value him as a human being and fellow Cyclone fan.

We have been through a rough patch in ISU sports, I'm sure he just needs some gentle encouragement. Rather than using angry words, how about some kind gentle ones?

Together we can work together for a brighter, sunnier, rainbowier tomorrow for Iowa State

And I do not think we should move down to a midmajor conference. We may be lower end major conference, but we would be top tier mid-major. Moving down would be like saying "I don't like getting beat up by my school's bully, so I'm going to go find someone in the grade below to pick on and beat up to make me feel better about myself"

And bullying is wrong

I'll be sure to alert Coaches Fennelly, Jackson, Johnson-Lynch, Ihmels, and Martens. They need to be instructed to stop winning, effective immediately.

None of those sports pay the bills or have any kind of national following.

We just won a bowl game against a team from the Big10 and in the process jumped another bigXII school to get there. And we finished with a winning record and beat Nebraska AT NEBRASKA. If this is a low point for ISU football for you then you haven't followed ISU for very long. It was basically one of our top 5 seasons ALL TIME.

Right, our top 5 seasons would be a bad season to many other schools. Perspective is key here.

I am not saying ISU does not deserve to be in a BCS conference, but we need a little perspective here. If the big12 splits up, ISU will be the skinny nerdy kid picked last in the playground game. We do not offer anything to any major conference.

Can we offer something in the future? Sure!
Do we offer a lot now? Nope.

This is why I do not want to see anything happen to the big12, because ISU will draw short straw if something happens. We are the least attractive big12 school to any potential suitors.

Right, but conference realignment is far from being directly related to past history. It is true that schools that got in on the "take" or in the arms race early, in general, have been reaping the rewards of this early start the past 20 years. One could make a case that previous investment (of which conference affiliation is a part of) is the major difference between ISU and NU, Iowa, MSU, OU, and now Ok St. Schools like Purdue and NW have academics to fall back on, (although previous investment is a major factor here too). I would say it is safe to say the investment would rapidly increase if ISU were a member of the Big 10.

Oh, if only the state would have supported both schools evenly back when both were members of the MVC (or any of the first X numbers of year of ISU/C).

MSU is still on my good side because they beat UNI. And I hate UNI.

And F that iowa fan saying we don't travel good. Pretty sure we're known for our traveling. We outnumber Minn 6 to 1 at Insight Bowl for the most recent example. I went down to Chicago to watch ISU vs Northwestern bball game this year and the ISU fans were crazy and way outnumbered northwestern fans who were only minutes away.

perspective is fine, but there are a lot of schools that would be pretty pumped for a 7 win bowl championship season including a road victory at Nebraska. You put another school into the same disadvantaged situation that ISU is in (location, tradition, money, media exposure, etc) and they would be thinking in an act of God to accomplish what we just did this season. You don't expect the orange bowl when you have the mountain we have to climb just to get bowl eligible. And I would bet easy that half of all D1 football programs would trade fan bases with ours, if not their pocketbooks.

I read the whole MSU thread and they gave hardly gave any reasons as to why "ISU sucks so much." Lost a lot of respect for the Spartans.

I was thinking the same thing as I was reading all of their posts. We won seven games which included a bowl game win over a big 10 team!

Duh!
Remember in 2005, at the height of Big10=Great and B12=terrible? We whipped Iowa and Nebbie beat Michigan in the Holiday Bowl. The Big10 has more TVs than anyone else and they want more, get over yourselves.

and no offense, but what does Ihmels coach?
Men's cross-country, women's cross-country, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field. If I remember correctly, this was the first year that he has coached all of the teams, and all six teams did pretty dang well.
