The complaints have turned towards Matt Thomas.
Yeah, pretty appalling really. Our 7/8 man in is getting ripped apart because he isn't performing as good as our upperclassmen starters. He gets breather minutes unless there is foul trouble, or he has a hot hand. Which is pretty freaking typical if you ask me, especially in close games. He has had some nice passes, and put forth way more effort into rebounding this year. He takes some nice shots, which don't always go in. Not a lot of time to get in a rhythm with limited minutes, but if he comes in hot Hoiberg will stay with him because Hoiberg plays the hot hand. It's not like he is getting naz minutes where he gets 5 misses in a row to find his hot hand. There was one game this year where it seemed naz missed more 3s in a row than Thomas might in 3 games combined.

Speaking of our short bench, is it possible that Edozie has a grade issue from the fall that hasn't been cleared up. The reason I ask is the local media has steered away. I know McKay is cutting into his minutes big time but there have been situations where his skill set could of come in handy plus the kid was playing the best ball of his Cyclone career.

No. Absolutely not. Why would you say something like that? BOOOO!!!!!

I cringed...and when no whistle came, I relaxed. Looked like a foul to me but I'll take it. At any other time in the game or in any other gym.....

I agree. I was waiting for the whistle because it looked like he came into his body on the blocked shot. Maybe the block took the refs by surprise. Or maybe they were expecting the others to make the call.

Just curious, do you have poor enough eyesight to confuse Morris with Thomas?

Did you watch Foster blow by Monte with 2 minutes left in the game for an easy layup. It was atrocious. I'm not saying Matt is a great defender because he's not. But he's actually a pretty good on-ball defender. He struggles in the defensive rotations though. But some people who don't understand basketball just need someone to harp on. Matt brings a lot to the table even he's not shooting well. He's a very good passer, ball handler, and a decent rebounder. Maybe people need a whipping boy or something though.

After the South Carolina game, I was starting to become a Nader doubter and wondered why Edozie wasn't getting his minutes. Nader has shown great versatility and deserves the playing time he has received. McKay should be the Big 12's Sixth Man and Nader its Seventh.

Monte thought he had help there (and should have).

Gotta love cf. A Nader thread gets 80% posts about Thomas. I feel like we could turn a Westminster Dog Show thread into a thread about why Kourtlin Jackson cut his hair and how that potentially affected him not winning a dunk contest.

I'm a HUGE Thomas supporter and I don't think he's near as bad on defense as some portrait it. That being said Monte and Naz are better defenders and always have been.

I really like when nader's offensive game resembles hogue's, ie mostly inside with one or two open 3's sprinkled in.

Yeah I agree that Monte and Naz are better defenders overall. I was just pointing out that they have their lapses too.

Nader is good off the bench.

Thomas looked really good last night. Best game since Oklahoma State. Two threes that went in and out, but he made space to get those threes. He's getting it together and will be fine. I've seen improvement.

I'm not going to read thru 7 pages (to see if anyone else posted this) just to voice that I also think Nader should start against Texas Tech.
Ahhhhh yes, you nailed it. This team needs a sudden change because clearly things haven't been working recently.
