Aliens 3 (based on the movie) for the SUPER NES, impossible, never did beat it. I was told that when you did all that happened was a sign that showing the main character saying "it is done now". Battle toads is hard, that dam tube level usually got me.

Pitfall.

I'm pretty sure it just went on and on until you died or killed yourself....like watching Hawkeye basketball

The Hammer Throw and High Jump in "Track n Field" were always a problem.

Damn Troggles would eventually speed up to the point you couldn't think fast enough.

Ghosts n' Goblins on the NES was a ***** to finish. When I finally managed to beat the last boss, then it tells me it was all a dream and I had to play it all over again. With the small caveat that all the enemies were now twice as tough. ****** me off! However, I did manage to beat it all the way through. Truly satisfying moment.

That's on SNES, right? Either that, or the NES and SNES versions must be very similar. Never got all the way through the second time using that damned bracelet or whatever it was.

Final Fantasy 12.

My PS2 with memory card got stolen from my house in Ames when I was leveling up to beat the final boss - I think about 30-40 hours of playtime. That forced me to buy a PS3 for the backwards compatibility, and when I played it again I got about 20 hours in and got the YLOD and my next PS3 didn't have backwards compatibility.

As I write this, it dawns on me that this game caused me to spend nearly $800 in console purchases. That sucks.

I had a similar experience with Final Fantasy 7 growing up. Logged about 60 hours leveling up, then had my memory card get corrupted. Restarted, spent around 80 hours leveling up thinking the final boss would be harder than the Ultimate Weapons, but that wasn't the case. It was actually a pretty big letdown after spending all of that time on the game.

Sonic 2. I could never beat the last boss, giant mech Robotnik, with no rings.
I owned that *****. I played that game until my fingers bled. The multiplayer/split screen was way ahead of its time. Played that more than the actual game.

Games I've never beat:
Castlevania (original for the NES, I get mad anytime I see the image of that **** grim reaper)
Battletoads
TMNT (the first one for NES, I've beat the other ones)

Notable Games I have beaten:
Ninja Gaiden (The original NES version. One of my proudest gaming accomplishments)
All the Mega Man games for NES
Batman (NES)
Blaster Master (NES)

I also have a friend who swears on his life he's beaten Contra without the Konami code. I'm skeptical, but I've never known the man to be a liar.

Those two were very tough games. Congrats!

The Grimm Reaper was no match if you had triple boomerangs and of course some power to play with.

Isn't the thing though that you basically get one chance to arrive charged up like that? If you don't beat him that one time or you aren't powered up, you can't get that triple boomerang from the point you go to after?

The Japanese version isn't exactly easy, just not so unforgiving. I died some other places but did beat the grim reaper with triple boomerangs when i first got to him.

One of the Resident Evil games I got all the way to the end, and missed a key, or something stupid, but it was the final part, and the door locked behind me so I could not go back to get it. ****** me off and I quit, I wasn't going to start over and spend a month to get back to that point.

Dragon Force on the Sega Saturn. Got to a point that I could not beat any of the other castles' armies and had too many people unhappy and defecting among my ranks. Then my memory card stopped working and I lost all my progress (30+ hours). Haven't gone back to it since.

Didn't go through all replies, but assuming this is the 25th time the original TMNT and Battletoads has been named.

That **** water level....
