I really thinks this goes to help the issue of credibility.......

I used to really enjoy this site.....

But lately we question every move, recruit, hire, ect.... It's getting old. Greg McDermott has a proven record applied for a job to become the Head Coach of ISU mens basketball program, he did so because he has some experience in that area and wanted the job. He accepted it and said it will take time, you want a quick fix, I am not the guy. We seem to do nothing on this site anymore but tear him, his staff and his players down. Anyone more quailifed probably should have applied. I thought this was supposed to be a fan site...? Discussion is good, lively debate is better, attacks are unnecessary.

If that is being a fan, I'm not so sure I want to be one....?
No offense guy, but I usually really question your posts being biased based on the fact that you know McD personally. I don't think anybody is saying they are more intelligent than McD when it comes to basketball, but its ok to discuss on a discussion board why we have been sucking so much lately.

I think someone should create

the bball coaching manifesto and nail it to GMacs door. In it should be things like:

We're ISU and we're entitled to a top division finish
You should make all our players - those that stayed and those that you only had a week or so to make a call on - better.
You should yell since theres a direct coorelation to winning. More yelling always equals more winning. The same way that the vast reduction of pirates in today's world directly coorelates with the current global warming. More pirates = less GW and vice versa.
You should make our walk-ons AAs.
You should have a better defensive team even though we're 3rd or 4th in FG% defense in the B12.
You should run the other offense that other teams use to win with their junior and senior PGs.
Colorado sucks and despite the fact that few of our coaches have ever won there, you should because our walk-ons are that much better than scholarship guys.

I'm sure theres more.

My advice to the doomers - don't buy green bananas because you won't be thrilled with the taste right away.

Don't get the point of your poll. It's like saying that I have to have given birth to know that my sister is messing her kids up in a big way. Or that I have to have hit a home run in the majors to know what a foul ball is. Do I have to be able to dunk the ball to judge a dunking contest?

Besides, if you haven't noticed, there are just as many, if not more people defending GMac as there are attacking. I know, I'm one of them.

Still, people are merely expressing their opinions--and, in some cases, their ignorance. Freedom of speech, and all that. That's the great thing about this country.

Now, I have to go shovel snow. Again.

People who question everything other people do are called "critics" not "fans." Just like to point that out. A critical fanatic is kind of an oxymoron. Looking back and analyzing every little thing someone or a team did wrong is not being a fan, that is being a critic. Looking back and thinking, "yeah, we probably could have done this better and I hope/know we will start doing this better" is more of a fanatic than a critic. Jeremy should start another site named: Cyclone Critic and kick all the negative people to it : )

*just having some fun, no harm intended : )

Huhh.. That's like me saying I'm not going to listen to friends about investements, cars, houses etc etc because I know them? That makes no sense at all, Mr. Fickle.

I would take final 4 of the NIT right now.
I would also take a 1st round win over Minnisota in the NCAA right now.

I don't think our program was broke. We had a down year. We had some good recruits comming in. Stinson and Blalock announced they were going pro and all hell broke lose. We hired Gmac and that was good and we will see next year if we made the right hire or not. After we hired Gmac we lost Taggart, Carr (kind of was leaving anyway), Degand, Marsden quit, Dodie Transfered, Taylor kicked off, Cory Mac transfered, Brister quit am I missing anything.

I would say the program right now is more Broke that when Gmac took over. I still say we give him more chances. He deserves that. I really want to see huge improvement next year. I have my doubts with losing our two best rebounders and two of our best players.

Actually I think he meant that since he knows McD personally, he will probably be more inclined to defend him at all costs. And I think it's a legit point.

Okay that's a good point.

However it also gives him ton more insight on the man and how he does things. Plus Dag has seen what GMac has done at different teams over his whole career. Because of that I'd say his comments carry more weight than 95% of the posters on this site.

Well since 100% of what is posted on this site carries 0% weight, I think you're right on.

Yes, there should have been probably a 3rd choice in the poll for just fans......sorry.

I am not against discussion or debate, both are good, but at some point people need to understand the whole picture, once they do then lets quit beating this into the ground.

Greg in his press conference said it will take time. WM was not let go because of wins or losses. ISU's problems began with LE his off the court situations made it hard to retain him, didn't you also have a asst coach RB that got into trouble? WM was dismissed because of the direction of the program off the court, academics, ncaa violations ect.... this coupled with LE and past problems ISU needed to start over, could not afford any more mistakes or bad attention to the program.

Do I think Greg is the guy to do it, yes. If given time, he will build the program the right way, he has done it before He will not ever embarass the program as some have done in the past. It would be a whole lot easier, if not just him, but his staff and players had your support.

For the record.....I hate Mac's offense, I have said it before. He has limitations and reasons for doing what he does, when you get he chance ask him or his staff, why? they are not unapproachable and will answer.

I'm now just going to stick to Cyclone Bookie events, they are much more fun....

It makes complete sense. I'm saying that since coachdags knows McD personally, his posts are all positive on McD probably mostly for this reason. Therefore, I always assume when he posts that McD is exempt from criticism from coachdags because he wants to support his friend....btw I have no problem with that, which is why I prefaced my statement by saying no offense. But, I still question what he is saying a little more, cause I know there is no way he would ever criticize McD on this board.

I believe he just criticized his offense.

Although it's a different sport, I got a chuckle out of the fact that right below this thread is a thread titled, "What would you do different than Chizik?"
