Arrogance? Not this year. Too many question marks. I have said multiple times throughout my last posts i don't know who is going to win. I have only said our defense is really good (which it is) and you won't score as many points as you think you will (which you won't). I think both teams are pretty even, starters wise, we have a better defense you have a better offense. And the Vegas line reflects that thinking. I would predict a bison 3 point win just because i am a homer, not because i think the Bison are 3 points better. If it's being arrogant calling the strength of our team what it is, and calling out our question marks on the offensive line and offense in general, then my apologies.
Dear god I would hate to see what you people are like on a "normal" year then.

This is not to be a snooty question, but what do you Bison fans believe will be their confidence if they lose to the hapless Cyclones by say 10? We as fans drink our team's kool-aid, but none of us know what our team is capable of. We all know either team could win this game. But I think if we lose to NDSU I don't think it would shock us. Some of our fans will step out to the ledge, but most of us will probably just excuse the loss to a new system and new players just not quite ready yet. I do expect that win or lose we will improve every week. I could actually see us losing to NDSU and beating KSU, but I'm very hopeful that we come out 2-0 after watching the fall camp updates.

I believe that our team has a renewed spirit after the close of last season and the way that they won those games. One a curb-stomping of a fellow Big XII team and the other a 24-point comeback when on the road at another Big XII venue. I believe that our captains are business-like leaders vs the jovial Jaques and the vocal leader of Jeremiah from last year. I also believe that our coaching staff understands what it did wrong in leading to our rash of injuries last year. Couple that with a proven OC/Head coach added to the staff and I believe the star talent on offense will keep the defense off the field resulting in an energized defense.

Do I know what will happen? Nope. But I sure am not hinging our season's success on this one game. I'm wondering if NDSU fans will be able to say the same thing.

I wouldn't excuse the loss I guess, but if we were to lose it is most likely our new O line not winning the battles and trying to figure out what the best combination is for our defensive line depth, especially defensive tackle. It might take a few games to figure out some of the line chemistry, and what players may rise to the occasion. That being said, if we lose and Carson Wentz shows us he can play, we'll be fine. If we lose, the line gets beat up, and our QB looks like our QB in 2009, then there could be some serious cause for concern. We are kind of expecting some growing pains with the lines, hoping to win the first couple with the inexperience, but we are definitely drinking the cool aid with Wentz, so if he doesn't look good --- could be some serious panic in bisonville.

That's like saying "I think I'm either right or wrong." No s**t, Sherlock.

That is not at all like saying "I think I'm either right or wrong." It's merely saying, I am predicting the Bison to win, but I am not so confident in the result that if ISU wins I will be surprised.

That's fine. I get that is most people's opinion. If they played Oklahoma or Texas in the middle of last year, they would have been 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 point underdogs on a neutral field, according to Sagarin, and Vegas usually isn't more than 3-4 points of what Sagarin has. So yeah, neutral field under 5 point underdogs last year? That's the most objective view i can find, and i would say that is competing. Maybe they would have finished .500, or maybe they would have finished 8-2 IDK. They would have been competitive in every game they played though, and after watching the horses up front man handle kansas state on the road, it would have been interesting to see those 4 conference home games. I do KNOW they would NOT be able to compete year and year out with the 63 scholarships and have NO idea how they would do with 85 scholarships. I am not making those predictions, just saying last year's team would have been competitive with anyone in the big 12.

Ugh yes because every kid that gets a big 12 scholarship is better than every FCS player in the country.

Well. there is a reason they were offered a scholarship to a Big 12 school.

by your logic, you guys may as well not show up you already won the football game.

I cannot wait to curbstomp your sorry *****.

I think the Bison will win but will not be at all surprised if Iowa State wins. I know many NDSU fans want to move to FBS, however unreaslistic at the moment, but I for one am happy having a playoff against other schools with similar limitations to NDSU. If NDSU loses to ISU, I will be disappointed for sure, but an FCS championship is still on the table. Not trying to be at all snooty in return, but you think you can have a successful season IF you were to lose to an FCS team at home for the second straight year?

If ISU is so bad that they are the underdog at home to an FCS team, how good can you really feel if you win, especially if it's only by a few points? That will speak volumes about how bad of a year NDSU will end up having.

We have in the past had a terrible first game and had a successful season. This game does nothing for our conference standings. If we lose this game we have to beat KSU, and Toledo. If we could somehow beat Iowa that would compensate for the loss to you guys because most have us losing that game. I think KSU is a perfect example of how a loss to NDSU doesn't mean that much in the grand scheme. It just seems by the comments I've read in this thread from your fellow fans that we are one of the worst teams in the FBS, and if you can't beat us what does that say about your want to move up to FBS? People like LB are writing checks against an account that he deposits nothing to.

Yes there is a reason, but its not like the "big boys" don't miss on guys. The fact is the player in question started as a sophmore last year over a guy who is currently on the redskins. I think he would start over one of your corners. I don't see how that is an outrageous statement of how that means we think we don't have to show up and play or why it makes you want to violently smash people's faces in.

Wait, what? How is that our logic? By saying we have some players on defense that are better than your big 12 recruits?

Again, I don't think NDSU can move up right now. If they do it will be to a low level FBS conference. If we lose, it would show that moving up would be tough. Again not trying to be snooty but what do you think your actual chances are of having a successful BIG12 season plus Iowa on road if you can't beat NDSU at home.

You didn't answer my question, does he start?

Apparently I didn't answer this question clearly enough. Many a team, including ISU and KSU, have shown that week 1 anything can happen. The rule of thumb is that the most improvement happens from game 1 to game 2. I believe ISU has never had better coaches on staff in its history from top to bottom. And we have had some gems. Week 1 will not define ISU win or lose.

I have only said our defense is really good (which it is) and you won't score as many points as you think you will (which you won't)..

Interesting. How many points do you think we think we're going to score? & how many do you think we will actually score, just curious?

FTR, if I had to estimate a final score today I would say 31-17 ISU on top.
