I hate them. Why would you take one of the most recognizable helmets in college football and paint it black?
This has nothing to do with it being Nebraska. Sometimes, you just don't screw with history.

That article was dated September 16, 2011. This was before they played Wisconsin last year. Husker fans were told to wear black to the game at Wisconsin last year to distinguish the teams fans in the stands.

The NU-UW game is the best one to do this for because it looked like an intra-squad scrimmage last year with a Team White and Team Red. Everything else was pretty much identical.

From what I've read, the first version pitched to Nebraska was a predominantly black uniform but Tom Osborne vetoed it and sent it back for a redesign.

It's not a great look, but it's just one game in the name of selling more merchandise and making players/recruits happy.
