Frost came in thinking he could walk on water and that is a problem. I don't think it helped that the whole state treated him like he was Jesus as soon as he became the coach. They are going to get throttled at Wisconsin this week.

Those who remember the Big 8...the dirty playing of Nebraska was cultural....passed on from seniors to freshman....the extra chip in the back at the whistle...the spitting in the scrum. Big 8 referees let them get away with it. Not anymore.....It is just wierd to still them making late hits and cheap shots....

It comes from the people and the community.

It comes from things like Suh having two separate occasions of hitting a parked car at 4am and "no alcohol involved" according to local pd. That's still in tact...at least for another year or two.

I think he's a walking advertisement for how easy it is to build a winner in Florida with the leftovers.
Rebuild. Despite the record the year before Frost, UCF was already a good program when he arrived and had inherent advantages over most of the AAC.

The BIG has enough mediocre to bad programs that he should be able to make bowl games most seasons. In 10 years that may keep NU happy as they’re 30 years removed from relevancy.

And with the offensive schemes he has all it takes is one good QB to dominate a smaller league which is what he did last year. But his defense was still horrible. Now he has to face teams with similar talent and better defenses. Plus he has to try and recruit for his offensive system in the midwest as opposed to Florida.

I think their offense will be fine when they have an experienced talented QB in his system.

Fine as in beat up on the bad teams, generally beat okay teams, occasionally knock off the Wisconsin types, and still always lose to the Big 3.

Combined with a suspect defense and that’s just below what they had with Bo. They are going to take two steps back to get maybe a step forward. Brilliant move by Frost to make it look like Riley gutted the program so that when he peaks at Bo’s level it’ll look like he really rebuilt.

You just described Iowa.
Realistically, the ceiling at Nebraska is somewhere between Iowa and Wisconsin. Maybe that’s a little generous. At best, they’re looking at consistently ending up as 3-6th in their own conference year in and year out. That’s going to drive their fanbase nuts for the next 20-30 years and they’ll continue to make questionable choices that end up bouncing them down in the pecking order while the newest coach rebuilds the program to fit their system. They’re already well past the point where the Husker name no longer carries the same mystique with recruits as it did at one time. To them, Nebraska has never been more than a mediocre to good program.

In other words, Nebraska is exactly what they’ve been for the past 15 or so years and I don’t see that changing.

I would think the abrasive fan expectations would be a negative to recruiting.....it is a negative. I always imagine the entire the entire population of Millard and other cushy Douglas County suburbs lined up to jock sniff. No shame.
