I had pretty much abandoned the other polls once the CFP poll comes out. I didn't realize movement in the AP was well correlated to movement by the CFP committee.

I gotta say I don’t understand all the outrage and griping over the rankings and the SEC. Rankings are reasonable for the most part. I don’t think it’s a travesty that one 3 loss SEC team may get in over a two loss Miami or SMU or BYU. They have some good wins.

I do think Boise is overrated given their schedule and lack of quality wins. I think BIg 12 and ACC champ should get the bye over them.

All these threads on polls, playoffs, and coverage just reiterate for me why I pretty much just watch ISU as far as college games anymore.
I wouldn’t let people complaining on message boards ruin your enjoyment of college football games.

As we all know there is politics involved with who makes the playoffs. This is one reason the Big 12 will not be left out. They have to leave a few scraps on the table to “prove” the process is fair.

I heard that if we don't play in the college playoff they'll put us against Colorado in the Alamo Bowl.

Right but my point is that as far as the league optics go, Utah and Okie St sucking killed the perception of the league. KU’s crappy start and then creating chaos didn’t help either.
Yeah it's a shame actually playing the game and allowing those results to mean anything. :jimlad:
ESPN is trying to script the story lines but actual games tend to throw that out the window.

Stop applying logic and reason. It’s a TV show.
Yup, it’s exactly like those cooking/baking shows my wife loves to watch and I despise. Grab some big names, no matter how good they are at actually cooking/baking a pit them against each other. This has just become “Top Football.” It’s based on nothing more than TV ratings. If you are good at football and not in the SEC or B10, they actually don’t want you in their cook-off, you might upset the narrative.

Wonder if Big12 should exploring playing one of their early season cupcakes in late November....it's a 99% chance for a blowout and you'll either stay put or move up in rankings.

That's cool but here's hoping you also aren't one who goes 'ISU must be the only team that struggles in the red zone' etc.

I mentioned this earlier sarcastically and thinking about it more, ESPN would probably mock the B12 for it in between showing highlights of Georgia/Furman.

I say we go to 7 conf games and say 5 creampuffs are a "good will" gesture to fund FCS and mid major programs. Only half kidding......

Alabama is an example that playing the actual games doesn’t matter.
