I'm worried. You don't simply replace a Georges and a Monte like that.

But I'll worry about that next year

What have you guys seen in Carter that makes you think he could be a contributor to a Big 12 team. Obviously he's young, but it looks like he has a looooong way to go. We need a transfer big man bad.
Agreed. I have low expectations for Carter Ernst young and Lard. I don't think many people know what we can expect out of burton either. Good thing it won't take long to find out.

You guys will probably think this is way to optimistic, but assuming Monte is gone next year, I still see us as a borderline top 25 team that finishes 3-5 in conference. With Monte, we are top 20

Morris may not be the vocal leader that the three seniors are, but between the lines Morris is the straw that stirs this drink. We've looked lost so far this year when he is out of games.

We absolutely need one of the top 4 or 5 grad transfers next year. Our front court will be so young that we need a mature presence there. A grown *** man if you will.

I agree. Carter and Ernst are probably at least one more year away from being more than 10 min/game backup types. I see them both being equivalent to Edozie was a a JR/SR. Occasionally give you 7 & 5 as needed, but you don't want to count on them for much more than that.

I remember feeling concerned after the 2012-13 season when we lost Babb, Lucious, McGee, Booker and Clyburn - close to 69% of our production. No one knew Ejim was going to be Big12 POY, Niang was good but not yet the Niang we all know and love. Naz was still an unknown and barely had played his freshman year. We knew we were getting Morris and Thomas but, again, had no idea how special Morris was going to be. Same thing with Dustin Hogue, complete unknown. And let's not forget that DeAndre Kane was also a late addition. Things turned out pretty well that season as I recall.

You're forgetting one major difference between now and then.

I think Young will play the most out of those four. from what I've read on this board and in a few scouting nuggets, he could have a Melvin Ejim-esk freshman year

A New Hope?

I think Thomas could pull that look off

Yeah, I just don't see Carter or Ernst helping us much next year. Hope I'm dead wrong. They both seem like they need a few years yet.

Hopefully Young and Lard are more ready.

So, I know that Monte's status for next year seems a bit up in the air(my gut says he gone)..... But I think even with him leaving I have seen some great things from Matt and Halice that makes me think with them Burton as well as Nick Babb, Ernst, and Carter, than the recruting class (Malou, Jackson, Long, Young, and Lard), not to mention 1 additional spot to fill. A lot of length and a lot of young talent, I think we are surprisingly good. I get that is won't be like this year(losing potentially all 5 starters).... But I think we will be surprisingly good in the end....

It will be weird being out of the rankings for the first time in a long time

What benefits are there for Morris to stay? He will have a very young team next year so his assist stats probably won't be nearly as good. I can't see him increasing his draft stock if he stays another year, it can only hurt. It would be incredible if he came back but I think we should be happy we got 3 great years from him.

I think Monte will be back. Where does he currently project on draft boards?
