I guess I'm the only person who loves the current uni's.

I'm with you. But then again, I start to like whatever they wear shortly after any change due to the fact that they're OUR uniforms and they are associated with OUR team.

We're clearly in the minority, though, as there are endless threads about uniforms on this and other boards at all times.

I'm with you on this one--I absolutely love the all red uniforms. When you go back and watch some old clips from the Sage-Haywood-Hayward-J.J. Moses days, how can you even stand the white pants-red top or white top-red pants combination? I'm a huge fan of matching it up red-red and white-white. I like the current ones. Why not take what the team wears now and make that cool? You know how to do that?--Win games.

IM with the lovers of the current uniforms... red on red looks like a tux look and the players love solid color on solid color.. every player that i have talked to about it says that they love the current unis because all red goes great with black.. there for you see alot of the guys using alot of black tape and accenting them with red arm bands.. See Alvin Bowen he wears about 3 red bands on each arm along with a black pad... i guess it just adds to his more devastating look. Plus there arent many other teams out there that are red on red.. we are like a swarm, white pants soften the guys look up.. and some people believe that the all red color can be intimidating to look at.. imagine lining up across from Tuba Rubin, Jason Berryman, Tyson Smith, Jordan Carstens.... Alvin Bowen... and even the little red fire hydrant in 6'0" Brent Curvey.. like i said. I love our current Unis and so do alot of the players

I second that. For new fans, these uniforms are all we've ever known. I think going with all red distinguishes us from looking too much like USC, and while the unis are similar to the KC Chief look, the red pants are just enough to give us our own identity. I wouldn't mind a revision of the current look, but our primary color is red, and it should stay that way.

I think they could make some suttle changes to the UNI's and go back to the Gold Helmet with the red "I" like back in the 70's...use the yellow metalic flake paint on them. Go with the white strip in the middle of the red stripe down the middle of the helmet....

I think if we want to go "tradition" we should go back to those...

Or UNI's similar to Utah would be kind of cool and not a dramatic change...

I have not problem with the home uni's. I just don't like the white on white for road. I would like to see red pants even on the road.

ISU is known now for red on red , it sents a message when a team sticks with tradition Coach GC is going to take us to new heights and the rest of the country will know ISU when they take the field,. Time to have a little
SWAGGER..........

There is a version of our logo very similar to GM4ISU's avitar that has just the swept ISU. I wouldn't mind putting that on our red helmets instead, so people can read it. Leave everything else the same, stick with the same logo package, just make it more recognizable.

Sounds like a reasonable and simple change... thoughts?

An identity? We've had these uni's for 3 years, it's not like we're breaking a long lasting tradition by getting new uni's. And I guarantee we're not known nationally for having red on red. Utah, Fresno State, and even Louisville are three teams I'd think of before us (if I were on the outside looking in)

New coach, new team identity, new excitement for Cyclone football... those three things alone are enough to warrant new uniforms. It's not like we change THAT often. We HAD to change after Seneca left because we switched from Russel to Nike (plus those looked sooo horrible). Since then we've been consistent. Other teams change every year. You know why Michigan, USC, and Alabama don't change uni's? Because they DO have long lasting tradition and frankly their uni's look sweet.

Our uni's now look OK I guess, but in terms of quality, they are on Nike's crappiest line. Let's get some uni's that look decent and are of good quality then we won't have this conversation as much. Will everyone be happy? Probably not, but the majority of people now don't like our uni's, so what's the hurt in trying something new? By the way, the 3 players that I've talked to about this all said they'd love to get new uni's. Granted that's only 3, but 3 ain't bad :)

And o yeah, while performance on the field is the most important... what's wrong with peforming well and looking good doing it??

I honestly don't care too much what our uniforms look like. Just pick something and stick with it for longer than 5 minutes already.

To me, the product on the field is far more important than what they're wearing.

I like the unis, just not the helmet logo. I know the university spent a lot of money on creating the current logo (as did Oregon State, Boise State, St. Johns, DePaul + many others (you can always tell when a logo has been done by that same company)), but putting a mostly red logo on a red helmet just doesn't make sense -- you can't read or recognize it. I like the old block "I" with "ISU" down the middle.

Speaking of ISU, does anyone wish we were known nationally as ISU? Where I live (in the Chicago area), if you say ISU, people are think you are talking about Illinois State. There are no other major colleges with the initials "ISU." When you hear the letters "LSU," what do you think of? Louisiana State. "ASU?" Arizona State. Some schools can't do it -- Michigan State/Mississippi State & Ohio State/Oklahoma State/Oregon State. I think it would be great if one day ISU is synonymous nationally with ISU.

Sorry to rant on my 1st-ever post. Go 'Clones!

The all red uniforms were terrible. I like the idea of a gold helmet, not a yellow one. Of course the absolute worst look was the Jim Criner "different color" helmets. All Big 8 caliber players had a different color(either red or yellow) than the remainder of the team. Hopefully, we can get a consistent look for our uniform and helmet. Good programs don't change things so often. Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas have had the same stuff forever.

You guys all sound like a bunch of women trying to decide what color of pants to wear with the brown pumps.

red on red with a gold helmet would look ********... maybe with gold pants too, but like i said, i like the way they look now, and i wouldnt change them until we can afford to do so. If we want new Uniforms, New stadium renovation, and a new coach.... cyclones were going to have to pony up, i dont know about everyone else but i doubled my donations and tickets.. were not at a point right now to change everything. One step at a time until ISU is right where we want it.. Now go get your friends and neighbors on board and buy some tickets

I agree with Cycfan1, but can go with either gold or yellow. Obviously winning is THE most important. However, our unis don't look like a big time program. They look like cheap material, and look bad on TV and from the Upper Deck of the stadium. As long as we are going for quality, let's make the move to something somewhat new.
