I tend to believe Chris Williams when he says he hasn't committed.

Re: I've seen our new 09 recruit play...

I've seen him play. Have you? Simple question - How do you figure a guy will suddenly be an impact player for a Big 12 team if he doesn't even start and rarely plays at his JUCO school?

Re: I've seen our new 09 recruit play...

I will comply with the forum "rules" and not mention his name, but I can tell you this. I have seen several of his teams' games as I live in close proximity to the school he is departing. He is not, nor should he be, considered a replacement for Brackins. I too was impressed by all his high school success, but when I saw him play, I was not the least bit impressed.

Yes, I realize he has dealt with an injury that I won't detail so as to continue hiding the identity, but when he finally did see the floor, he showed no signs of physical limitation. He simply wasn't good enough to play. He played limited minutes and struggled on the defensive end of the floor. He plays too upright and lacks strength to be a true power player. Not only did he not start, he was 3rd or 4th guy off the bench and rarely scored.

Hopefully he will prove me wrong, but having seen several of his games, I don't see how he is going to contribute much, unless he truly is a long way from being healthy.

With this info, doesn't look like we would be losing much if we don't get him.

I hope I'm wrong - believe me. I really hope his lack of success was due entirely to the injury that I simply never saw noticeable signs of. ISU assistant coaches attended many of his games that I saw. Never could understand why they would make that kind of trip to watch a guy play 5 or 6 minutes.

If he's not that good maybe he's just walking on.

Appears this guy scored a whopping 2 points in his last 3 games. Has he been injured? Surely there is an explanation for this...

Re: NEW THREAD: INFO, '09 commit

Each game I attended was the same story. He would come off the bench, play 3-4 minutes, the coach would get in his face and yell at him, and he'd stay buried on the bench for the rest of the half. He's not physical at all, but was asked to play with his back to the basket. I saw nothing that would indicate a face up game. Each time I see his high school numbers and accolades, I wonder how this same player did all of that.

I took a buddy of mine to one the games who knew nothing about the players but a lot about basketball in general. When I told him ISU coaches were there looking at one their players, he named/pointed out 7 other different players before he finally figured out who it was.

I've never gone to see him in person or anything, but it could by that McDermott is a better coach of big men that the Indian Hills guy. Again, I don't know, but it's one idea off the top of my head.

It would be nice to recruit someone who is not a project. I(we) don't have many patience.
