It's the redshirts and signed but not on campus recruits that people are mostly concerned about.
Oh all I've been hearing for years is we have all these great recruits coming in and then they get here and do nothing. I'm sure these classes are no different.

:jimlad:

So many of our fans spew bs like that without realizing just how good the redshirts and incoming freshmen are. Completely different level than what we've had previously. Hopefully we can hang on to at least half of them and whoever the new coach is brings some studs along for the ride.

Interesting points. But assistant coaches in wrestling have a far greater ability to impact results than in football. And the results have not been good.

To Buf's point, I think if AD Pollard can make a solid hire, there's at least a decent chance that attrition (including recruiting losses) will be low. Coach Jackson won't be taking anyone with him as he's going to work in the athletic department and I doubt the Paulson's would pull a Cael. They're far too loyal to ISU to do that.

I think that call has to be from somebody who knows what was or wasn't going on inside the room. Are they Messinghams or Hermans?

Just be prepared to have a big senior class graduate and recruits to ask for releases and freshman to transfer.

If you can bring Pop, Dresser, Casey or Cody in, I think you can salvage some of these 2 classes. If it is not a big name, we will start in a deep hole again

This is why it is good this is happening now. It gives JP a head start on everyone recruiting the next head coach and hopefully they will be able to come in and convince the recruits to stay.

I agree with this SouthJerseyCy. I know 1 recruit has asked for a release already, so I hope this gets done quickly even though the homerun hires will probably not want to talk in season.

I hope we can keep the recruits and freshman patient while the search happens

There isn't going to be a ton of scholarship money available at other schools for the guys in the incoming class. Certainly not as much as they are getting at Iowa State.

That's a bummer that a recruit pulled the trigger that quickly, but it's definitely understandable. Some guys came here to wrestle for a gold medalist, and now that isn't happening.

Realistically, I think Burroughs, Taylor, Dake, and Cael are slim to none. I think guys are reaching, but a call never hurts. Think the same is true for Pop or Dresser, but who knows.

Takedown radio interview with Kevin Dresser did say his brother Danny lives in Ankeny.

I don't think there are many top HC's who would be willing to leave their current programs currently. What about some guys like Drew Pariano or Mark Cody? If looking at top assistants with lots of experience, maybe Mark Perry or Donny Pritzlaff? Idk, I'm just spit-balling.

I've been pretty silent the last few years, not because I didn't like Jackson I surely wanted him to succeed, but with that being said when you don't have something good to say I was always taught not to say anything at all.

I'd like to thank kj for everything he's done and the way he carried himself as an ambassador for our university.

I have a couple suggestions and I'd like to see pollard do one of the Below:
1. Contact Cael and ask him for his suggestions, I don't think it is realistic to think he's going to comeback, but I'd love for pollard to repair that relationship.
2. If you don't do 1 then my first call is to Gable an ask him to lead the search.

Now my suggestions for next coach would be in no order:
Terry brands
Kevin dresser
Pop
Burroughs
Varner
Ben askern
Pritzlaf
Cody Sanderson
Cunningham
mark perry
Bono
Reader
JRob
Schwab
Tim Flynn
Cliff Moore
Roger kish
Mark branch
Chris Pendleton
Any of athe okie state guys
Damion Hahn
Sean bormet
Tom borreli
Cary kolat
Kerry McCoy

That's just a random list of people I wouldn't mind seeing our coach.
