Required is a bit strong and college isn't the same as the NBA. Geoges was the focal point of this offense plus we had plenty of other scorers in Nader, Thomas and Burton. Monte's a bit of a throwback PG in that he facilitates for his teamates first and scores when the situation calls for it. His game reminds me of former Hawkeye great Ronnie Lester.

Check the numbers, Monte was a very efficient PG when it came to scoring. In the 18 regular season Big12 games before his injury, he was ISU's second leading scorer at 14.6 ppg, shot 50% overall, 43% from 3 and 80% from the line.

That guy is probably one of the mongoloids that say there is no defense in the NBA.

Nope I think that's the dumbest cliche in sports.

Those guys are so damn good on offense that it may look liken they're not playing D but they certainty do.

Just because someone says something that you don't agree with doesn't mean you have to freak out and start calling names.

Your original statement is false. Look at Ricky Rubio, Emmanual Mudiay, Jeff Teague, Goran Dragic, George Hill, Rajon Rondo, Elfrid Payton, Marcus Smart. Trey Burke.

Way up there
Thinking about McKay's range and handle i question he every played if he wasn't a 4 or 5.

One of the gambles you took taking guys from from Indian Hills under their last coach was that they played in a system that pressed for 40 minutes. You can count on those guys being great athletes but how they played was so different that its tough to tell how they will transition to a traditional system. At IHCC, Jameel played at the front of the full court press, he used his length and athleticism to wreak havoc, he rarely guarded anyone man to man, let alone in the post. Another big reason he didn't play post was that they had 3 or 4 guys bigger and stronger than him who ended up going to big time programs as well.

If MM comes he'll benefit from having an actual PG backing him up for the first time in 2yrs. He'll have luxury of being able to play full bore without worrying about fatigue and fouls.

Something we haven't seen since he became a starter

Check out the OU and KU games and get back to me. He wasn't 100% down the stretch, so he wasn't able to do those things as often.
This x1000! And this is what is so frustrating about being a Cyclone fan - imagine a 100% healthy Monté AND Naz this year. Think we bow out in the S16? I think we are still playing. Wish we could have one year where all our players are healthy and operating at their peak going into the tourney. Maybe we pick up a major front court game changer for next year, Monté comes back, and we actually become a better team next season.

Yeah, and I think the depth issues are a function of the coaching change, so we won't have to worry about it once Prohm establishes his program.

Sorry if already stated, but our team and roster next year is no worse than this year of Texas Tech. I don't see why people think that we will miss the tournament entirely.

Everything depends on whether MM returns and if Naz is given his medical RS! Doubt if Cooke is still here if bigs are available and scolis are needed. Having seen none of these bench players play at all due to a lack of recruiting by Fred his last 2 years then I will predict a down year and about 18-13 and miss tourney. Our experienced bigs right now are 6'5"- MT and DB. Extremely low expectations as the only 4 players we have that are proven are MM,MT,DB and NL - no one to protect the rim! Not sure where all the hype is coming from but an average team at best without Georges!

I still think we will make the tourney. My guess would be around a 6 seed. Remember we play in the big 12? The committee thinks high of that. We have had back to back 7 teams into the tourney and next year everyone will be down except Kansas. I think our record will be about the same and maybe around 3-5 in conference(I hope better).

I see next year's team as very similar to the 2012 Missouri team, if anyone remembers them. They were a terrific guard-oriented team with several shooters and ball-handlers such as Kim English, Marcus Denmon and the Pressey brothers.

I'm ok with this, sans their 15/2 upset in the NCAAT.

- probably not start the year in the Top 25, but I think will likely spend several weeks in the 18-25 range.
- finish Top 6 of the Big 12
- not lose at home to Baylor (please God)
- win at least one game in the NCAA Tournament

That would make 6 straight years of 20+ wins and NCAA tourney ticket. Unprecedented in ISU MBB history. Sign me up.
